• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

We picked up our new 2014 RT Limited last Saturday.
Love the machine, but do need to learn the tricks.
Rode Sportsters & choppers.
Any advice, tricks & such would be appreciated
Also my first post, so I'm learning the site too

:congrats::welcome: This is a great site and you will have many questions. This the place to be to get those questions answered and to meet new people.

Keep your foot off the brake pedal until you want to use the brakes, the Nanny is real picky on this. Relax, you do not have to manhandle a Spyder.

Do you have any experience in riding ATVs or snomobiles? They offer the closest approximation, to the feel of a Spyder...
Lean your body to the inside of the corner, keep your foot OFF of the brake pedal, and go have some fun! :congrats:
Oh! I almost forgot... :D :nopic:

:welcome: and :congrats: on the new ryde.

The do's and don'ts thread is very good and will most likely answer a lot of questions. Over controlling and riding the brake pedal seem to be the biggest issue for new riders. Coming off of two wheels, the :spyder2: learning curve takes most people 500 to 1500 miles. It took me 1500 miles before I was totally comfortable.

Don't hesitate to post any specific questions you have. to many miles and smiles.

Congratulations on your new Spyder. You will love it. There are a lot of great tips on the Dos and Don'ts.....but be aware that the shifting points listed there are for the SE5 and you have an SE6. So the shifting points will be completely different.

Great advice given already, but can't stress it enough to keep your foot off the brake until needed and relax your grip. I was told to pretend that I was holding a baby chick in my hand and it sure helped me relax my grip which in turn improves your ride. Enjoy!!

Welcome. all good above information. With a little more location, there may be a Spyderlover near you. I live in Beavercreek (Dayton area). There is also a Ohio spyderryder group with a separate site.
have fun and ride safe.

As said above, relax your grip and enjoy tooling around for the first several hundred miles. Then you will begin to play a little more. Welcome aboard!

Think about how to steer again. If you go into corners without consciously thinking how to steer, you'll be reverting to the counter-steering technique you've used the entire time you've been on two wheels. As the Spyder doesn't lean, you must steer into the direction you want to go. You'll notice this even while making minor corrections to stay in you lane on a straight road. Once you relearn how to steer, you'll do just fine.

Enjoy that Spyder!

What Mark said! And just relax and don't try to over think things.

:congrats: Tips? Just ride and ride carefully until you get use to it and familiarize all control and access. Memorize your manual if you can. God Bless and have fun.

:welcome: and :congrats: on your new :spyder:............read the manual over several times, watch the video and practice, practice, practice! Get Spyderfest on your calendar and make a road trip!:2thumbs:

Go ahead and change the sway bar and get the skid plate. It was like night and day changing the sway bar and you will scrape the front end, we scraped ours just pulling out of a mall parking lot and pulling out on the street at about 10 mph.The Spyderpops skid plate covered up the scrape mark ,so it served two purposes.
