• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hey everybody,

In about a week, my wife & I will be the proud owners of a new 2011 RT A & C. I can't wait! I will be giving up my 2003 Goldwing, but I'm looking forward to the new spyder. I rode one today & it was a blast . Ride safe & have fun!

Excellent link!! I will try and remember all these points when I hop on mine for the first time. I definitely want to remember to not ride the brake. I love sites like this, where everybody is so willing to help out the newbies. Thanks again everybody for all the advice & the warm welcome.

Congratulations!

Here is a link to some basic do's and don'ts for new owners, covering basic questions many seem to discuss frequently. Hopefully it will help improve your experience!

Tooling down the highway

Congrats on the spyder . One thing you're really going to notice is that you'll be riding in lower gears at higher speeds than on the wing. I went from a wing to a spyder and it took practice getting used to using the lower gears on the highway. There are numerous threads here concerning keeping the rpms up and highway speeds. Take the time to read through them and you'll really benefit from them. I let one of my fellow wingers ride mine and he couldn't believe how high he had to go with the rpms. He was afarid he was going to hurt it....LOL

:welcome: and :congrats: on the new 2011 A & C. That was also our most recent purchase and we are very happy with it. :2thumbs::2thumbs:

Met some GW folks at a BBQ yesterday who are getting uncomfortable riding it. He sat on mine and I gave her a quick ride. Looks like another GW bites the dust!

Ride in comfort,

Ya- if you can focus - getting a lot of this info well in advance is a good idea. I know the first sales guy I was dealing with on delivery day was telling me a lot of things, a few of which stuck. What it really went like was that car commercial a few years back which was "blah, blah, blah, blah, here is the keys, blah blah blah."

Wish I had a few more of the "blahs" filled in but once I found Spyderlovers the gaps filled in quickly. Someone else on here also once mentioned that the Spyder comes with an owners manual filled with good info, too ........ ;)

I've been riding the spyder & I absolutely love it!!! The sweety wanted to go for a ride tonight, but we are getting a monsoon downpour here in the desert, so we'll have to wait until tomorrow. I am still getting use to the high revs, but I'm picking everything else up pretty good. One thing I learned is to always check the fluids, even when it comes straight from the dealer. I noticed some oil under the tank yesterday & I pulled the dipstick and it was all the way to the top of the hash marks, so I removed alomost 1/2 quart of oil to get it right. I sent the dealer (salesman) an e-mail and told him about that, so it hopefully won't happen to anybody else. Ride safe:doorag:.
