New to forum/ general ?

My husband and I are seriously thinking about getting a :spyder2:. We are looking at either the RT or RT audio & convenience. Pros and cons between the two. Some of the mods he can do himself. We want to get whats necessary. Because it's a lot of money we want to make the right choices. We live in Concord, NC any other :spyder2:riders in this area?

If you want the semi auto shifter you start with the RT-A&C otherwise you could add what you want later.
One exception, if you want to pull a trailer, buy the RT with the hitch installed, that way the wiring etc for hitch has full two year warranty. If you add hitch later it only has a 90 day warranty. A few cases of trailer wiring harness issues have been reported.

BRP should have the Semi Auto Shift option for the base RT!!!!! ( I won,t add one to my stable until they do!)

I would make a list of what I wanted. Then the cost to add them later, either you doing the work or them. Some are very expensive to add later, Like comm package (long story)Then decide which one you want. I started with a base model. It would have been cheaper to bought what I wanted to start with.

:welcome: I would not go with anything less then a RTS and an SE5 trans. but that is just me. BTW that one for sale sounds like a real good deal.

I am in the group that recommends buy more :spyder2: than you think you need rather than less and try to add on. I call it the "wow, I could have had a V-8" factor.

It's usually less expensive to buy the package rather than add on things later. I vote for the decked out versions.

:welcome: I started out with an A&C model because of the SE-5 transmission availability. 2 years later and I've pretty much added all of the stuff to bring my bike up to RTS specifications**... Buy more than you think you need because you will end up adding "goodies" to your bike later. :2thumbs:

** Lacking just the chrome wheels and installation of the ACS later this month... :thumbup:

I couldn't agree more and it never made sense to me... They offer the SE5 of the base RS yet not on the more expensive upscale RT?

+1...fan here of actually using a clutch...we have three wheels, no hand brake, and semi-auto...we don't have a steering wheel and I hope that's not next!

I would agree with those who say get more on the front end purchase. It will cost more in the long run to continually add the "goodies" that you could have gotten in the RTS. By the way :welcome:

If you are in Concord, you may be talking to Matthews or RPM in Albermarle. I bought mine at Triangle Cycles in Durham. I decided what I wanted (LOVE my semi-automatic), got a price from my dealer, then called other dealers. Told them want I was going to buy, and asked for best out-the-door price. To get the sale, my dealer threw in an extra I wanted, and was then the best price (and closest to my house).

We live in Cary, NC. Did you test ride a Spyder at the Concord Mills demo ride event in May? We were one of the Spyder groupies who showed up just for lunch and fun of talking about our Spyders. I have an RTS--so much fun to ride!

Get what you want to start with. We all have been down the path of, well I will start here and add on, but never get it down or wish we had gotten the one with it already added. Patti and I have had ours for only 2 weeks and we are glad we bought the one with everything already on it.
I would suggest you call Rick or Len at Cowntown USA and see if they have any Spyderfest specials left. Either way you go, you will enjoy your :spyder2:.
