• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Throttle Body - a question

Had the RT in for 3000 mile service. It has been acting up as well, and the code indicated the Throttle Bodies. The dealer was great. They changed the throttle body, replaced the left hand control module because the turn signal was physically sticking when pushed to the right (They still do not turn off easily when changing lanes, but that is another story.), and changed out the lower body panel and oil filter for the upgrade. They did a great job, and the RT now starts up and runs great.

However, after I got home and put the machine in the garage, I noticed it no longer makes that high pitch "whine" after it is shut off. I understood this was to keep the throttle bodies open so they did not flood or something, but it no longer makes that noise. Does that mean that with the newer throttle bodies this function is no longer necessary?

I could call the dealer back and ask, but I am sure someone here knows not only what is true, but will have a good explanation as to why as well. :2thumbs:

Ryde safe.

I've had 2 throttle body's put on my '11 RT but neither the original nor two replacements have ever produced a whine.
I think you're good to go as it is.

My RT used to whine after shutting down for about a minute, then there was a BUDS update for the throttle bodies which reduced the length of the whine to approx 20 secs. The butterfly valves inside the throttles were held closed for this time to improve cold starting.

I hope I've got this right, I heard an explanation of why the change was being made just one time about a year ago but my memory isn't great...:dontknow:

Well, to add to the confusion, my 2011 RTS SE5, brokedown last summer and found out it was due to the throttle body. So had everyting replaced and the Tech told us about the whine and to expect it is for the reasons stated above. So, my Spyder runs great now and it DOES still do the whine, for quite awhile.

The "whine" is very high pitched and to some might be hard to detect. The only time I hear it is when it is in the garage and there is complete silence. I can't or don't notice when outside.;)

Agree. It lasts for 30-45 minutes but you need very quiet surroundings to hear it.
