• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New three wheeled Land Speed Record

Big difference on the salt flats. Plus, don't go by the speedometer. They are close, but not exact. I think next year we will see 2 pr 3 3-wheeled vehicles trying to beat the record.

A lot of land speed record holders never seem to let go of "mahogany ridge" and strap on a helmet...
I've got a client who SWEARS that he was clocked by a "friend with a radar gun" at 137mph... :roflblack:

That guy was probably also running in a different class than Doc due to the engine size...

I met Bob and his crew on the Salt and he did run 132.34 mph in the 1,200 cc class with a V4 engine. We did have many things in common and promised to be both back next year for new records! Spyder included.

Are we allowed to ask if a "different" bike of yours is planning a run at next year's event in addition to your Spyder?? :opps: :roflblack:

(Hoping for; but not expecting, more than a 'yes' or 'no')

Are the different "classes" already in place? Or does the vehicle designate it's own class? For example, if someone shows up with a v-6 trike, does this vehicle create it's own niche with its v6 configuration and engine displacement? And how about conventional versus "reverse trike"?

YES! 1,300 cc Class.

"Conventional" and "reverse" are 2 different classes (1F2B versus 2F1B). 2 cylinder and multi cylinder (2+) are different classes (ex. Spyder versus Bob's Yamaha V-Max V4). A three wheeler 2F1B with 4 cylinders in line with 1,300 cc would be in a different class compared with a 2F1B with V6 and 1,800 cc. Here is the schematic for the FIM classes (note that only FIM accepted the 3 wheelers, AMA is still pending):

I very much like that the design has changed and the arms for the front wheels have been brought back under the handlebar. fork area of the bike, staying more true to its original dimensions. For me thats a much better design to work with aftermarket OEM, then both handling and aesthetics wise.

I have always loved the V-max for its raw naked aggression and now theres a much better opportunity to own it for me at present as a camber steering Y-ike. I'd like to get a ride on that for sure. I have some things that I have on the "I'd like" list that it doesn't meet at present but at least he's walking the right path for me!

I'd definitely call it a contributor to moving the technology because too many people vacillate about getting their designs out there and in the market! :2thumbs::2thumbs:
