• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

:ani29: I am a new Spyder owner, as of Monday July 6/15!!!!! I bought a ST SE5 Limited.
Im having so much fun learning the quirks of my baby....
Still building my confidence making left turns...do I need to look into adjusting my handlebars?
Any suggestions on additional lighting...LEDs...ect..?

:welcome: :nopic: :2thumbs:
Do you have any experience in riding snowmobiles or ATVs? They most closely approximate the feel of the Spyders in turns...
Keep a soft touch on the bars, and look where you want to go!

Welcome..!! Welcome..!!

congrats on your new ryde..!! :2thumbs: welcome to the spyder world and this most informative site...keep ryding and learning, the fun part, then worry about adjustments. The Do's and Do nots thread here will help alot...

I think the best advise we (wifey & I) received was to "plant" the opposite foot on the floorboard or peg than that of the direction of the turn, made a world of difference to us. We were trying to "hold on" to the bars & grab handles to adjust for the g-forces. Wife kept complaining how tired her arms were after a ride through the twisties.

Welcome

:welcome: and :congrats: on your new ride! Glad you found this site, ask questions we are here to help. :nopic:

Congratulations and welcome! The OP above have given you good advice. Relax and get some miles on your Spyder before making any decisions about adjusting your bars and adding farkles. Good luck and ride safe.

:welcome: and :congrats:

Others have given good advice. I am also a "plant the opposite foot/lean into the turns/use push pull on the handlebars, light control, no death grip" type of person. As the miles pile on, you will find you become one with the :spyder2:.

The ST has a good level of equipment, except for the seat :gaah:

I have a bumpskid with led's for extra visibility.

Before tweeking handlebars or adding performance enhancing mods, I recommend a thousand miles or so to see what you like/don't like. Then...it's time to go for the gold if that is what you want.

Welcome, and gratz on your new ride!

I'm in the push/pull camp for turning as well, as I both push on the outside bar and pull on the inside bar for turning. I feel that it gives me more control, and more fine-tuned control.

Enjoy!
