• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Spyder Ryder

Hi all

New to this site so I will make it brief. I have had my Spyder for a few weeks now and quite happy with this fun machine. But......
being in the manufacturing business for some time, and knowing a few things, has anybody thought to themselves how cheaply made some of the parts are? Don't get me wrong, it is a well designed unit and lots of thought was put into it's creation, but for the price we paid I have to wonder !!

Thanks for listening

welcome
.
It was built to a specific price point and target market... it does have a lot of stuff on it, though, that are either options (ABS, power steering) or not even available (traction control, stability control) on other bikes/trikes.

It is what it is... and I personally am pleased as heck.

:agree: and welcome

:dontknow: I think I got what I paid for. Sure beats the alternative which DOES. NOT. EXIST.

welcome Hope you enjoy every mile on it!!

There is a lot of expensive stuff under all that "Cheap" plastic skin. A state of the art engine, electronics not available on anything else in it's class (which, I guess, does not even exist).

Try comparing it to a Goldwing trike for price!

I think we are getting a good value for our money. But that is always in the eye of the buyer.

I'd do it again.

The thing that irks me is the cheap zinc hardware used all over the Spyder. Wouldn't have cost them that much more at all to use stainless instead.

Welcome and have fun!

I think that BRP deserves some credit for bringing such an incredible piece of engineering and technology to the market for a relatively low price. Yes, they cut some corners, and there is lots of plastic (like most bikes these days), but they put the money where it counted. We certainly would have been less likely to own one if it had been $25,000-$30,000. Bought one two weeks after we discovered them, at this price.

Welcome to the club. Some might consider the plastic panels cheap, but IMHO
they are part of what gives the spyder its exciting sporty looks.

Despite some of the mechanical problems my spyder has exhibited, I am hard pressed to think of a more satisfying purchase of mine in quite some time if ever.

:congrats:welcome
I don't pay attention anymore. Nothing is basically made in the U.S.A. and if it's made elsewhere it's gonna be cheap so I just ride the darn thing.:2thumbs:

:congrats:welcomeThe expensive parts are in the mods. Make it yours, ryde safe. Welcome to the family.
