• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Spyder Ryder question

Thanks for checking this post out! My wife and I finally made our dream of owning a Spyder a reality this weekend right before leaving on our annual motorcycle trip. My questions are these: How important is the first 600 mile service? We left with the odometer on 1 and will most likely cross over 1000 miles before getting back home. Do we need to find a dealer around where we are riding? or is waiting till we get back home an option? I am absolutely in LOVE with the spyder experience!!! I value your feedback and have been an active reader of this forum for over a year now. The dealer we bought from is 2 hours from our home when we get back. I am pretty mechanical and plan on doing a lot of the maintenance myself. with Lamonsters youtube tips and everyones knowledge we are looking to make this Spyder experience a valued part of our time together for many years. Thanks again for your input.
On a side note to the amazingness of these machines. We spent all day and night moving into our new home on friday, and with no sleep set out on our trip from Muncie, Indiana to Pineville, Kentucky. I could not have done that on the Harley! So smooth and easy to ryde it was the best motorcycling experience we have ever had!

The 600 mile check is primarily a safety check & oil change. If it were my choice, I'd change the filter & top off the oil on the trip, if everything else seemed OK. But 400 miles isn't that much of a push...

I had over 1000 miles on my RT Limited before I had the 600 mile service performed. I called my dealership and also the dealership in Cuba, MO prior to heading out to Spyderfest concerning the service and both said it would not be a problem. The important part is to adhere to the breaking guidelines as stated in the owners manual.

Thanks!

Thanks again for checking the post out and responding! So far we have been in spyder ryder heaven! minus a rain storm 2 days ago which I have never felt so safe and controlled in the rain as I was on the spyder! the ryding has been amazing. Thanks again!

:welcome: and :congrats: on the new ryde.

If your not having any issues with the bike set up--1000 miles should not be a problem with first service.

:congrats: and have a safe trip. I'm heading out on the road tomorrow may we both have good weather.

first maintenance down

I was able right after the 800 mile mark to get it in at La Follette motorsports in Tenn. They were quite reasonable at $208 for everything. So after a few hours without our new baby we were back on the road. This has been such an amazing experience! I cannot wait for many more trips and especially the Spyderfest and other Spyder Rallies!

:congrats: and welcome to the Spyder world. Your life will never be the same with this incredible machine. I look forward every morning to get on that baby and head to work. Can't wait for weekends to ride in the countryside and short trips. I use it for grocery shopping and around town. Soon will do a long trip or two with other Spyder owners. Have fun and ryde safely.:2thumbs:
