• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just picked up a 2014 RT for my wife. Bought it from original owner with 1500 miles on it. Rode it 95 miles home and really like this thing. The wife is out on it now riding some back country roads to get used to it. She, like most coming from motorcycles is having to adjust to no hand brake and the push button shift, but she was all grins and giggles as she pulled out.

I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions (she won't spend anytime in this forum but I'll spend enough for both of us) so I'm looking foward to you all's expertise. I've already been through the tire pressure threads and it seems 20 in the front and 28 in the rear gets the most votes.

First question on the Front Trunk (I guess that is what everyone calls the Frunk???). When we turn the key to open it, it doesn't want to pop loose. Have to help it manually. Is that a simple adjustment of the little bar that the latch encircles or adjust the latch itself?

You'll soon learn that I'm not very mechanical.

Oh, by the way, she's 66 and I'm 65. She's been on bikes for 10 years and I"ve been on Harleys and Yamahas for 55 years. We're looking forward to touring together now (I've been doing a lot on my own the last couple of years - ever since I sold her Honda Silverwing 600 out from under her.).

I'll check in later.

Thanks for having us!

Welcome to the group.Glad you found us. I think we have another lady from Covington on here as well. I hope your wife enjoys her new ride

:welcome: and :congrats: on the new :ani29:

You got it on tires. The frunk latch may need a little adjustment. I am not mechanical--so will leave it to an expert.

Enjoy your new :spyder2:

:welcome: 1330club The funklid doesn't "pop-up"; it just sort of lays there, waiting for a helping hand. :D

Bob is right about the frunk not popping up. But if you have trouble getting it to unlatch all together, or resetting the latch to close it, you may have an ignition problem. The ignition may not be recognizing the key without jiggling the key around a bit. That's what happened on mine and they replaced the ignition module and had to get a new key. BTW, this is a known problem and an honest tech should know about it.

Welcome..!! Welcome..!!

to both the spyder world and this strange but amazing site. Tires are a by guess or bygolly thing but you will find what works bestfor you. The frunk is like that but you can pick up a small coil spring and add it to help a bit. There was a thread on it some time ago. enjoy..:ohyea::ohyea:

Thanks for the info, but I think this is an adjustment problem. The key is working the latch correctly but it just isn't releasing the bar completely unless I pull on it while turning the key. With the frunk open I can close the latch and then watch it open fine when I turn the key.

NOPE ON THE FRUNK ISSUE

.................:congrats: & :welcome: &........Patti, the FRUNK issue ( they are having ) has nothing to do with the electrics in the ignition.....it's strictly mechanical.......And to fix this what I did was to put some squares of carpet foam ( the 1/2 inch thick kind ) in the HINGE.....it gives it a bit more pressure and the frunk will pop open.......Also I can tell you how to put in a safety wire so you don't have to use the KEY.......If the KEY breaks it's a $ 400 + cost to fix it ....PM me if interested........Mike

I respectfully disagree, Mike. Part of the ignition module are the levers that the key actuates to open the frunk and the seat release. It needs to recognized the key in order to properly work. Mine wasn't working right and they replaced the ignition module and DESS module (separate problem) to fix it.

Welcome to the ZOO. :roflblack::roflblack:

A great place with a lot of knowledgeable people. (as long as a few of them have had their Snickers Bar).:thumbup:

Thanks to everyone for the gracious welcome. My wife and I are both loving this thing. Just can't believe how expensive the add-ons are. A lot more than for my Harley.
