• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Spyder Owner on the Front Range

Hello to all Spyder riders from Colorado.
Picked up a new Silver 2nd edition :spyder: from Xtream Performance in Castle Rock, CO. Not a PE model :edit: . My first dealer stiffed me on the PE sale. Ordered Feb 07, I shipped out March 07 for a 4th tour, my 3rd in Iraq. :spyder: arrived Nov 07. I was still deployed and he would not hold it nor let my non-riding wife pick it up. Gave her a big hassle on returning the deposit too :edit:. Now she’s been riding :a18: a Buell for 7 months and picked me up a Spyder after I completed rehab.

Stats: 20+ years with the US Navy, 13+ with Navy Reserve and other agencies.
50+ years old, 6 foot, 210 lbs.
Trained EMT & Battlefield Medic, now working with computer imaging systems. Needed a change of pace.

Why a Spyder: After a 3rd IED in 5 years, I’ve lost the bottoms of both feet and some bone/muscle of the right lower leg. So I cannot hold up a good 2 wheeler without fear of embarrassing myself at a stoplight. I love the Spyders large trunk; I tend to carry a lot of Roadside Medical Equipment (C-Collars, Blood Clotter, Triage wraps). I usually ride as Tail-end Charley on group rides. I’ve had to use my training to many times to count over the past 25 years.

Past Rides: 1973 AMF Harley Davidson 175 Great starter bike for a rebellious teen.
1975 Kawasaki 900 The green terror of NAS Miramar
1969 Norton Commando Fastback 750 My first touring bike for the West Coast.
1982 Yamaha TZ 500 G Wish I had not sold this one. Best I’ve had.
1983 Yamaha Vision XZ550 Was a daily commuter till I shipped out in 03

This :spyder: is a great ride and real head turner everywhere I go. Took it almost to the top of Pikes Peak over Memorial Day. Had trouble at 11,500 ft with the engine missing :dontknow: so turned around. Still a ton of snow on the Peak at this time of year. I’ll try again the day of the Hill Climb.
Thanks to this and other web sites I’ve picked up a bunch of mods and ideas to make this a real custom ride.

Keep safe

Welcome HOBO SPYDER!

Great to have you aboard! The Spyder is just the thing for you.I'm a retired Marine,2 tours in the land of sand and 1 in Ashcanistan. My brother served 2 tours also as Corpsman w/the 34th mau.He just arrived home on Mar.10th.I've talked to many disabled vets who used to ride but because of wounds fm.IEDs and such they aren't able to ride 2 whls.again.This past weekend at the run to the Wall in Wah.DC.,I talkedto several vets about the Spyder and how its the ideal ride that could easily help many former riders to get back on the road.I would like to take a bunch of our Spyder riders down to Walter Reed med. center and visit the troops in rehab.and maybe it will help and give hope to those who would like to get back on the road again. There are alot of avid riders there and I'm sure not too many have seen or heard about the Can-Am Spyder and the 3 whls.that might enable them to ride again.Mine sure drew alot of attention down there.I'm sure everyone on this site would agree that the Spyder is easily adaptable and that modifications could be made to help some of our HEROES get back on the road.If anything,it would definitely help w/morale.SEMPER FI!

:welcome:

First, I want to thank you for serving. Also, :congrats: on finally getting a Spyder.

As to the engine missing, I understand that the Spyder is set from the factory to run lean so I wonder if 11,000 feet is getting towards the limits of the engines altitude for air / fuel mixture. Now, if you got an aftermarket exhaust on there, eliminating the catalytic converter, and then put Evoluzion's O2 modifier on the bike, the mixture would be richer and give better engine performance at higher altitudes.

:welcome:
Glad to have you here Bro. If there is anything we can help you with let us know and thank you for your service.

Welcome aboard, shipmate! Glad you are back home and riding again. You will love the Spyder, I know. I am an old retired Navy medic from the Korea/Vietnam time. 77 years old now but still enjoying riding. The Spyder is great!

:congrats: :welcome: :congrats:

Sorry to hear the dealer couldn't work with your wife on your PE, Especially under the circumstances.
At least you got a :spyder: to call your own now. Happy riding & Thank you for your service to our Country!

 SPYMAN

Hi! I am in Denver. IWe rode the Peak to Peak highway on Sunday and didn't have problems but I think our highest altitude was 10k. I will send you a PM and maybe we can hook up for a ride. I am the only Sypder in my group as the guys all ride two wheels! We ride to the Springs on occasion.

I would also like to say thanks for your service. As soon as the Dept of Revenue gets my title work done, my plates will be the "Support our Troops" plates with the flag and yellow ribbon. I have had them reserved for a while now.

Thanks for the Input. I will start checking into the O2 modifier. I've already started looking at a better sounding exhaust system. The OEM one sounds a little tinny :joke: to my ears.

To Lamonster and all the other that have answered back, A BIG Salute to each of you and Thanks.
