• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Spyder Event

Wow - I had to dig down to page 5 for this!! :spyder:

I'm almost done - installed the NMN 3" risers last night - got to admit the left control box with the reverse actuator is probably blue this morning, after trying to route the reverse cable back into it.. also installed the Kury Iso grips, wrist rest and Kewl helmet lock set - looks & feels great.

I finally got the new hardware for my F-1, so my commute tomorrow will use my new windshield, and I can finally ditch the full-face hat

The highway peg supports and mirror extensions are back ordered - probably arrive in two weeks.

Once all that's in, I'll order the ISCI front brake kit, and stop for this year.

I've got almost 600 miles on the Spyder now, so I'll change the oil myself, then take her to the shop for the rest of the check-up. Overall, I prefer the Spyder the my LT for my daily commute. Always seems to be stop & go traffic in the afternoon, and the Spyder is much more relaxed in that.

The concerns that have arisen are (1) the rapidity that the heat bars rise in slow traffic and (2) the gas smell that follows that. I've been reading the threads & have yet to get any real answers...

Gas smell.... check your charcoal canister. You've probably have fuel in there. It happens when you "top off" with fuel and the heat seems to perpetuate the smell.

Happy Spydering!!!!!!!

Just over 500 miles now - still runs a bit rough...

Gas smell = hot day (90+) and full tank (not over filled), yields gas fumes every time.

Just installed the mirror extensions :2thumbs: one of my best farkles yet!! I have the Kewl tour peg supports, and will wait another 100 miles to install when I change the oil - only want to remove the tupperware once.

The risers help alot, the Kury grips are still terrific, and the throttle lock is the best $22 add possible. The F1 windshield, while it does work, is not working for me - it leans too far towards the rider, and the attachment to the mirror brackets is really a kludge.. I have modified that, and it has proper support now, but I still don't like it. Note that Marcell doesn't read his E-mail, or at least doesn't answer it...

We have a VERY upscale mall close by, & I had to run over to the Apple Store for a cable - I parked in the 15 minute curb zone & immeadiately has a fellow shouting oooos and WoWs. When I came back a few minutes later, there were 8 guys going over the Spyder like it just arrived from Mars!

'Twas a hoot, and typical. Something for our fellow newbies to enjoy!

I'm already planning my winter projects - ditch the black bits (paint), and add the new hand brake system.

Anybody ridden one of these in the rain? Is there any lower body protection?

Marcel goes in streaks. Sometimes he is very responsive to email or phone calls, other times it seems like he's not. :dontknow:

I've ridden in the rain a number of times. As long as you keep the front fenders on, you don't get totally drenched from front tire spray. You do get wet though. In a light rain, some parts of you might stay fairly dry while riding but once you reach a stop sign or if the rain starts coming down harder, you will get wet. Invest in a good set of rain gear.

Thanks! I'm just spoiled from riding the LT in the rain - as long as you're moving, you are dry. However, I do not have East Coast rain - they build cages for that stuff...

Spoiled West Coast Rider :roflblack:

Another minor observation - with the NMN risers (BRP +1 & NMN +3) the mirror extensions place my trick Kury grips right in the middle of the mirror....:sour:

Wouldn't be without either farkle tho...
