There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. It was one thing when we saw these units in Indy at the dealer show thinking they were just another copy cat product.

They sent us a dealer brochure in the mail yesterday. What I saw for their new name was crazy!

I think to have the gall to come this close with their name is now really asking for it. :yikes:

I wonder what the BRP legal staff thinks of their new name? :dontknow:

:ohyea:
Who cares what they think, BRP Needs competition, I just wish it would come from a major company [Honda?] Competition is good for the consumer. I had my own business and my competition kept me my on my toes. So much so that i was able to retire at 57.:D

That is crossing the line. Weather they need competition or not, is not the issue here. I wonder though with BRP being a Canadian company and the other vendor is most likely not headquartered in the US either, if there is any legal action in the states they can actually take?

That's unreal! Now when you say your ride is a spyder you must say "spyder with a Y" so is my car a Chevy or BMW what the heck lets just call it a benz.:roflblack:

I tend to agree that competition is not a bad thing. Keeps companies on thier toes and makes them be more concerned about customer satisfaction and quality. I think you can tell by the picture that I don't think they are in the same league. Looks much cheaper.

They're obviously attempting to confuse the public with this cheap knockoff. Should be an easy case for BRP to get them to stop it.

If a reputable company comes out with a similar concept, you can bet they won't use such below-the-belt tactics.

We should get like 30 of us together and chip-in and buy one of these--- then have a gathering.. video the whole thing. Show our Spyders whooping it in drags, tear it apart showing how cheap it is......

And then----- go 'office space' on the thing and beat the living crap outta it--- then give it a proper burial.....:roflblack:

No now that I am looking at the pic closer I don't even think its even close to being in the same league!

I do believe it is a 250cc glorified scooter. The same company makes a lot of the cheap scooter you see running around. Top speed may be about 65 or 70 not sure I would trust it on the highway. Here is a more expensive version of the same thing I found on line:http://wizbangblue.com/2009/02/27/a-wild-new-three-wheeled-motorcycle.php

A Wild New Three Wheeled Motorcycle

There's a wild new three wheeled motorcycle soon to land in the U.S. named the LX-Day Crawler. This wild new three wheeled motorcycle is also marketed under the Chinese Spider nameplate as well, and features a 250cc water cooled 4 stroke engine, 4 speed manual transmission and a very low $4,595 price tag.

This wild new bike seems to be greatly inspired by a $50,000 Swiss built machine with four wheels that uses a BMW engine, but has had significant importation problems because European four wheeled motorcycles are classified as automobiles according to federal rules, making U.S. importation very difficult to impossible. This Chinese built machine faces less importation difficulties because it was three wheels, still an acceptable number for U.S. motorcycle regulations, and a proven low emission 4 stroke engine design that is more conventional in design than the radical BMW engine in the much higher priced Swiss machine.

Three wheeled motorcycles have some safety advantages over their two wheeled counterparts that include much better stability and safety as well the ability to stand upright at stops compared to conventional motorcycles.

With street legal designs and much lower prices than the ultra-priced European machines, Chinese motorcycle makers may be able to chip a new place into the U.S. market. Wild three wheeler bikes might just be the coming thing. Trikes were once considered a 1960's hallmark of a few custom bike lovers. But with a low $4,595 price tag, these new generation of trikes might just find a new generation of buyers.

Reminds me of the Scoot Coupe in this video which is dangerous-PERIOD!!

I can,t believe I was almost considering buying one of these because they are only about $6,000.

I would have looked like a DORK :yikes:compared to my Spyder!!

Considering that the discounted street price for these "copies" will probably be in the $3,000 range, they will probably sell quite a few. Remember the first Honda cars and bikes to hit our shores. They were underpowered. The cars turned into rust buckets in 3 years. Yet they sold well....look at Honda now !! Some predict that China will take over as the world's largest car producer in less than 10 years.

As far as the name goes...the Chinese company could have even used a "Y" in it and BRP couldn't have done a thing. China doesn't have to be concerned about trade names or patents. They are not part of any international agreements. Don't expect Canada or the US to have anything to say either, as China pulls both their purse strings. It's a sad state of affairs what this world has become .

No worries on this thing guys its been around for quit a while now its cheap chinesses junk, it will never be anything to even talk about.if some one is dumb enought to buy one it won't last long and it will be broke and you wont be able to get parts for it or someone to work on it.......THESE THINGS ARE JUST TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will be interesting to see how this transpires. I always recommend to stay away from cheap imitations. You generally get what you pay for. Right off the line, I would say 250cc would make for a pretty anemic rig. I won't be buying one when and if they are available in the USA.

Lets see, 4000 members of spyderlovers.com. We all chip in a dollar buy one and bring it to Cuba, Mo next year and abuse it!!:2thumbs:
