New Service Mileages

I think I saw this on a thread in here somewhere, but yesterday, after a beautiful 200 mi ride, we stopped in at our awesome dealership to have a quick conversation about the next service for my 2011 RTS-SE5. Since I have 1200 miles on it, in a couple of weeks we are going on a 2500 mile trip which will bring my mileage over 3500, which was the next service level and I was a little worried about it. Our Service Dept. said they have changed the Service sequensces and my next service will be at 5000!! Which is quite awesome, that's what our Harleys were, 5000 mile intervals. He said he thought we would be getting notices via mail with the new Service schedule. So a little easier on the pocket book in the long run.

I hope that's true. So, every 3,000 mile maintenance is now 5,000 would be good news.

That is what I understand also, mileage based on new filters. So if you haven't got the new filters you need to do the 3000 mile serviceIMHO

New Maintenance Schedule & Oil Filters! (New Filter and New Filter Caps are required)
BRP Service Bulletins 2012-11 and 2012-12

BRP has updated the maintenance schedule for all Roadsters
A couple key changes are:
- Oil change intervals can now be increased from 3,000 miles to 4,600 miles. (With New Filters!).
- Valve adjustment intervals have been increased to 14,000 miles and eliminates the inspection at 6,000 miles.

New Engine and HCM Filters
Improved filters have been developed to:
– Improve oil filtration.
– Improve SE5 shifting performance.
– Allow for use with the new extended maintenance schedule.
NOTE: The new filter(s) must be installed before using the new extended maintenance schedule!

They were 3,000 miles. I'm just saying (after new oil filter install) there isn't much difference with extending the oil change from 4,600 miles to 5,000 miles to cover all the maintenance items that used to be covered/checked at 3,000 mile intervals. At least that is what I got from the OP's post.

All Spyders are California certified, Probably they would have to be RE certified for California. :dontknow:
And that isn't cheap to do.
