There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

You won't need full throttle for any of the ride, so I would go for it. :riding:

Vary the speed so the DVT can get a workout. New tires and brakes (be gentle on them). Highway speeds are NOT to much for a new engine. Just don't do those 100mph burnouts yet. :yes:

I did the same! Had never even tested a Ryker before. Bought a one way train ticket, and drove it home in one go, went really smooth!
Just take a look at the map, and try to choose a route that avoids busy highways in order to not be forced to a constant RPM for very long periods of time.
Your main concern should be pain in your face after smiling non stop for 250 miles

For engine break in purposes, it's nessecary that you vary engine rpm's, not to long same rpm, tyres need about 200km's to get the new of them, brakes also need some time to settle, remeber these thee thing, and just enjoy the ride home.

Too much anaylsis! :yikes: Just get on it and ride the route you want. You will get enough speed variation to satisfy all needs. Like Cruzr Joe said, ride it like you stole it. For 250 miles, it is no big deal how you ride it, just don't go full throttle per the manual.

That's what I did on my first ride home....back roads and then a few miles of highway.

Absolutely! Backroads are more fun and 250 will blow by in a heartbeat.

Break-in miles
IMHO all vehicles are put together way better than 10-15 years ago..... Here's how I would do this .... if you ride the highway go 55 - 65 - 60 - 70 mph and vary it. plan some some alternate side roads... like 2 lane State highways ... When I bought my 14 RT it was in Illinois about 1450 miles away from my home in Vermont. I did what I said above. .... So far at 56,000 mi+ my Spyder is fine .... good luck .... Mike :thumbup:
