• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Ryder, finally got my Ryker!

Got my 600 yesterday! First ride was the drive home, and took a quick trip to town this morning.

I guess it'll take a bit to work up to going on long rides. I've had to stop a few times to stretch out my right leg. Think I'm just tense about being careful to keep the brake close at hand, but not to engage it while riding. I think lowering the pedal a bit helped.

Possibly the most helpful advice for these early rides was to not "death grip" the handlebars.

Congrats and welcome from a fellow North Carolinian. Where in NC do ya live. We've got 2 Rykers (my wife and I) and are always looking for people to ride with. We are located in Jonesville, NC btw. Here is our current stable.

Welcome, Franklin, N.C. here maybe we can get together and ride sometime...:2thumbs:
Enjoy the ride.

Congrats!

Patience is your friend. I have about 700 miles in a month and a half. I'm finally comfortable at 65mph. The muscle memory will come.

Ryker is a bit different than a spyder, but after some more miles, it will come to you, Ryker is more playfull....
I drove a Ryker Rally, yesterday, and I found it a whoot to drive, bit high revved, but sure fun, especially on gravel :2thumbs:

More forgiving then a spyder, on loose ground, I loved it...
But love my spyder also

Congratulations! I’m a 600 owner also. I’ve logged 2,500 miles so far, in about six months.

A windshield could be the best investment for you, it really cuts down the wind on your face and body, which makes riding so much more enjoyable. Just a thought, but your preferences might vary.

Swapping out the peg with floor boards + slingmods brake pedal mod makes a huge difference on how you ride and improves your comfort a lot.

General thoughts:
-adjusting the shock preload was the last thing I've done. Very easy. Only took a quick (and cold) ride afterwards, but I'm thinking its a much better feel (put it on 3 to start).

-still getting in "riding shape." The day I took that pic at White Oak was probably my longest ride next to the trip home from the dealer, around 45 miles. I was feeling it the next day. Still worth it!

-I've heard about watching out for wind noise doing a number on your hearing. But is that more for people who don't use full face helmets, and/or do a lot of highway speed riding?

Wind noise:

Rather flat line study did not state what type of motorcycle,RPM, windshields, traffic- just speeds while unprotected.

ALWAYS WEAR EAR PLUGS....I've tried many and find the foam type to be best. This comes from 50 years of riding with and without them.
