• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New RT Spyder question

It's a 12 RT SE5. This is my wife's bike. Use to have a 08 GS and up-graded to the RT. Anyway while sitting idling sometimes it will die. Cranks right back up, but just wondering has others done this. Of course it's still in the brake in mode. Have right around 500 miles on it. I guess this could be something that the RT does from time to time. Suppose to have all the latest up-grades.
Thanks, David

Does it have good fuel in it? Since it's late in the year for a 2012 bike, maybe it's got something gummed-up a bit in a low speed circuit? :dontknow:
Maybe it just needs to be run!

They had filled it up before leaving the dealership. This is the 4th tank and it still does it. Not all the time, but will be idling around 1400 and die like you cut the key off. I just added some marine Stabil (sp) to the tank. Will see how this helps. Might just take a while before the system settles down.

and when your dealer tells you its fine to use regular, give him the Mr Spock one eyebrow raised look.....:doorag:

Mine has done that also. But after taking it for a long 2 hr ride it's hasn't done it again. So yes, take it for a long ride and let all those fluids get hot and move around.

I'd take it back to the dealer if it continues. Could be a bad plug, plug wire, fuel, or a number of other things. A vehicle that stalls can be dangerous. It should be diagnosed and repaired by a competent tech. Keep a journal to show how often it happens and the conditions. that may help the tech duplicate it...or believe it.

Stall

My 2011 did it once in the first 100 miles. Had the dealer check it out and the changed plugs and wires. Have not had any more trouble.

Hasn't died while in gear and runs great. Only did it while idling. And also when it has sat overnight. I always let it warm up and it does it only after it's warmed up . Usually doesn't do it the rest of the day. Headed back to work for 21 days so when I get back in it will be due for the 600 mile check up.

What's that stuff that is real good at cleaning up the fuel system? "Sea Foam"??? :dontknow: You might want to give just a bit of that a try...

WOW!!!

Not one of you RS guys commented on the "upgrade" to the RT?

We MUST be getting mellow in here...:clap::clap:

Stalling

My RT stalled a few times when taking off in first, but it did start back up immediately, I can count on one hand the times it did, that was the first 300 miles or so. It hasn't done it since, got 3200 miles on it now.

I rode my wife's GS a few times and the RT a few times. My take on the difference is the GS would spank the RT, but that is where it stops. The RT spanks the GS in every other thing. Love the RT. I like the speed, but the comfort and accessories on the RT outweigh the speed by far. If I was going to buy one for myself it would be the RT by far.
