REAR TIRE CHANGE

Yes I thought $88.00 for the mount&bal.was high but I went to a dealer that was closer than the one I bought the machine from which would not mount a car tire on the rim even if I took it off the machine and took it to them,still wanted $75.00 +,sooooo I had to do as I did for now. The fronts, when they wear out will have Conti. procontacts on them which I bought at the same time as the rear, and POMP'S will be able to do the complete deal if I bring the weels to them at $17.00 ea. The fronts look about 1/2 wore so I hope to get the rest of the riding season out of them. My YOKO size was the 205/55R15 and it brought the speedo 1 mph closer to the GPS reading(GPS-60/speedo=61mph) The Conti's (155/60R15) are the same tread pattern that's on our '13 FORD Escape(quite abit wider on the car) and I feel that they work very well in wet weather,so I think all will be safe and that's the main thing. 95% of time the machine is riden 2-up and 20% of that was with a trailer. Cracks me up how Spyder peeps complain about 'only' getting 8,000 miles off a rear tire. On many motorcycles that would be considered doing really well.

Flat rate labor charges

I think $88-90 is about the standard flat rate for mounting & balancing a rear tire. That is what the shop I go to charges whether it takes an hour or half that. They also mount car tires.

when I got rid of the "CrapKenda" that came on my 2014.. the tire shop I brought the wheel & tire charged me $15.00 to dismount the junkie tire, mount the new Khumo and balance it..

Same here. Took it to Allen Tire any they charged me $20 to do it.
They also put on a new stem and filled it with Nitrogen.

Kenda Tires

9,400 on my stock kenda's and they still look like new on my 2014 RT-S. :thumbup:

Replaced my rear Kenda at 11,150 miles and was wore down to the center wear bars, had a General Altimax RT43 installed 215/60/15 No issues with Nanny corrected speedo error within 1 mph of GPS, handles and corners well, have not ridden in rain yet but should get a whole lot more miles out of it than the stock tire. Dealer charged $49.95 to install. Already had laser alignment done by squared away, no issues there either.:clap:

Last month I replaced the rear tire with "General Altimax RT 43" I have not had any issues with the nanny, their is no complaints here about the General Altimax RT 43.

I replaced my rear tire it had only 5,824 miles on it. Deanna

I've got 6500 miles on my original Kenda and I'm already down to the wear bars. I'll try any other brand, but my local Can Am dealer (who is new to the marque) won't mount anything other than the OEM tire.

Really?! My Harley dressers used to give me 12,000 from the rear tires and 20,000+ from the front tires, and that's running two up most of the time. I have just over 6,500 on my 2014 RTS and I'll have to change the tire in about another 1,000, if I'm lucky!!

2012 RT-S rear tire life

Just traded in my 2012 RT-S SE5 for a 2015 Limited SE6. Had 11,200 miles on the tires and they looked brand new, front and back. I heard somewhere that 2014 tires didn't last and later in 2014 they switched back to the older tire and get better wear. I've often heard complaints since I joined in Oct 2012 about rear tires not lasting long, but like I said my were like new at 11,200 miles. Hope the new ones are as good.

This is an issue that points out nothing more than poor PR by BRP in my not so humble opinion. If they had come out and announced at the 2013 introduction that they were installing a different compound rear tire for better traction, which had been requested by customers according to BRP, then no owner could complain about shorter tire life. Better grip equals reduced mileage. Yeah, there are some possible compromises but who wants to pay $400+ per tire to get high performance grip and touring car mileage. Loud handle management is a big culprit too. Guilty -- because it's fun!

Check the manufacture date on your rear tire; it should be a later date than 2814 which it probably is as it's a '15

both my GoldWings got between 23,000 & 28,000 miles on numerous rear tire changes... but.. they were REAL tires... not 2 ply sub-standard "may-pop) tires..
