• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. New QUIET pulley

Since we know there is a new front pulley that's supposed to help with the 45-50mph banshee wail, does anyone have a part number or know about availability?

Never heard of a banshee wail before. On the 2010 and 11s there was a belt squeal on take off, on some with the old style belt. That was fixed with dab of grease.

Maybe post a link to the video you are talking about.

I have to wonder if the updated pulley is more about the "red dust" issue and less about the noise.

Maybe BRP is just talking about noise to distract from the other more serious issue??? :read:

RT Spyders from MY 2015-2021(Early) have the same 28T front sprocket, PN705502134. MY 2014 has a 28T front sprocket, PN705501986. My '14 has never had any kind of whine I can detect and I've not heard of any MY '15-20RT owners complain of a whine or "banshee wail" and if '20 owners have complained about such a noise I guess I've just missed it.

Sweeter still if it addresses two issues. The dominant sound my RT makes is the whine in the 42 to 52mph range.

Buttersmooth.. I definitely know the sound.. my new 21 has the same tone as my 18 had... right around 40-45 that whirring and whistling comes thru.. my sena helmet with the noise eliminator has helped alot!... be sure to post the part number of that ..

Rick.

Thanks for the confirmation -- I was beginning to feel like the only Indian in the fort. I called the parts guy and the only part number he had was for the 'early' 2021 and it is the same as the 2020. Either Smoak is in error or we'll have to wait for the 'late' 2021 part numbers to come out. It's not a cheap part, $349 plus the bolt, plus install. I'm not sure it'll be worth it.

wow.. that is a bit pricey.. too bad the "early" 21s can't get a break on it.. bummer.. nah Smoak seems to be an honest and knowledgeable kinda guy.. but come to think on the parts side.. all motorsports products carry a price..

Rick.

I have never heard any thing that I would describe as a whine. Other than on this forum, that is! When riding all I hear is caused by the loose nut on the end of the handlebars.

I have a new pulley and it did nothing with the 40mph sound you describe

Yeah, but is it the new 2021 pulley Smoaks is talking about? I sure can't confirm anything about a new part number. It will probably take a while to hit the parts bin. Pretty expensive in my view, to fix a somewhat minor problem. $150 - $200, I'd probably do it. $350 + installation, not so much... But, if you need to replace a pulley, it would be worth getting the right one.

Where did you get the price for the pulley of $350?
