• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I just purchased a 2008 GS in pretty good shape as far as I can tell. 13K miles. It does have a brake failure warning message. I have found a bunch of simple things to try. Wondering if there is anybody in my area that could swing by and look at it with me and take it for a spin through my neighborhood to make sure everything feels and sounds right. I think it does but don't know the bikes that well yet. The previous owner is waiting on the title so I can't really go anywhere to meet somewhere else yet. It is the SE5 model. I live near Gainesville, VA. If anybody is close, please let me know if you could take a few minutes to come educate me. Thanks2155.jpg

Welcome....

Well soon it would seem. Not that I can help from here but I'm sure there is someone near by that could. How about a ryde to a dealer to have them check it out..? You don't need the title for that just the registration

:congrats:..:welcome:.... as far as the warning message ... Spyders ( the computer -NANNY ) is very sensitive to the amount of brake fluid.... It may only need 1 or 2 tablespoons, to get rid of the message ... Use the type as required in your owners manual. The containers are under the seat, check & clean the caps and make sure you put them back on with the ARROWS on the caps where they were before you opened them .... as long as you add a little at a time they are pretty hard to over-fill ......good luck .... Hi zsisk,

Re: I just purchased a 2008 GS

I have the same machine also with 13k on it now.

I've done a fair amount of changes to mine. If you need info on what I have done, just drop a PM

I plan on taking to the dealer to change all the fluids and maybe swap out all 3 tires. I was looking for someone close to me that knows the sounds and feels to give me an idea of anything that needs done or looked at. I am sure the dealer would throw a lot at me whether it is truly needed or not!

I plan on figuring out the brake warning today. Hoping it is just the fluid. Parking brake also seems to be sticking some so I am also going to lube the connections some.

Would love to hear about what you have done. Mine came with bar risers, highway pegs, passenger backrest, heated grips, tall and short sheilds. I have a pelican trunk from my old Vstrom I plan on adding. Also want to add some additional lighting front and rear.

2008 GS SM5 here

If you have some mechanical knowledge you can do some of your own work BUT.... I suggest you determine if your closest dealer is decent . You should be sure that all of the upgrades and recalls have been done to your Spyder , and if adding brake fluid doesn't solve your problem take it to the dealer and have them go over the bike after they give you a estimate for doing that .... as you get used to the machine and read ( and ask questions) on this forum you should feel more comfortable doing diagnostic on little problems. I have only had to change the oil and install an oil pressure switch and CO2 sensor in 24,000 km . Enjoy your Ryde
