There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. New owner wonders about mpg

I just got a 08 red Spyder 2 days ago and am wondering what to expect for mpg. I don't see anything in the owners manual. Is this discussed anyplace in this discussion? Thanks.

Hi Tony,

welcome I'm in the Pensacola area also and I have a
Silver SM5 - I have had it since June and i have been avg about 32 mpg. I drive it to work daily unless the weather is really bad. So this is my milage avg for mostly city driving.

We have several :spyder: ryders in the area and hope you will think about contacting us. :2thumbs:

not to worry it is a motorcycle [its tons of fun ] dont worry about mpg ride safe and have fun merry x-mas:thumbup:welcomewelcome:congrats:

I think you'll find that the mpg's vary significantly from owner to owner. The lowest I've seen is 28 mpg's and the highest was 39 mpg's. Keeping it under 70 mph has shown me the best results as far as fuel mileage. Like most people here will say though, if you get a little upset with poor fuel mileage the fun factor more than makes up for it.

taller the shield will effect MPG....I just installed a Rife shield 19 inches above Ignition switch. Great wind cover at all speeds but, does have some mpg con's. Not real sure yet how much, but the first shot dropped me about 5mpg.. but that was stop, go + 70 to check out wind on shield.

Merry Xmas

After 2 days you should have learned that gpm (grins per mile) is more important than mpg.

Is this what you got?

Not sure bout the mpg but I do know it doesn't get as good as fuel milage as my Boulevard M109R. I ride my M109 and my girlfriend rides the Spyder. We both fill up at the same time and every time we refuel, she always takes more than me. And I know that I am way more heavy on the throttle than she is. Not only that but my engine is almost 800ccs more than hers. :dontknow: They both weigh the same too.

Congrats on the new Red Spyder. BTW, red is the fastest!!!

You got the best of both worlds. I've got an '07 M109R and an '08 Full Moon SM5. I have to say that the Spyder has gotten more ride time since it showed up in June! :2thumbs:

I was getting about 26 mpg originally and it's been slowly creeping up...now, is this due to the engine breaking in or me breaking in (driving better)??, I'm not sure...but now I'm getting around 30 mpg and that was what I had wanted to hit...

MPG

After 2 fill ups it seems like my MPG is only 32. I'm wonderig why for a bike this size and in the mid-600 pound range that the MPG is so low. My husbands Wing, pulling a trailer, got 40. Seems like they could do much better than in the 30 range. My beemer got nearly 50 and weighed 580.

Spyder is closer to 800 lbs wet and it has a much higher reving engine and more drag with three wide tires and wider profile. You can check past threads, but you will find that 32 mpg is right on with most owners.
