• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New owner, question and 2nd try to post

What I did is I ran an 3.5mm male to female extension cable from the trunk to the front and velcro a $30.00 MP3 player to the glove box. I control the volume through the handle bar and if I don't want the song that playing I can hit the button on the Mp3 player to play the next song. The way that I ran the cable you need at least an 8 foot cable.

The audio connection from the GPS to the RT radio is MONO only! I have tested and proven this is the fact.
If you want stereo, you have to use either the MP3 connector or the iPod connector!

As people said if you use the MP3 connector you can only control volume.
If you get the iPod connector you can control the iPod from the handle bars and see it on the console.

Now also be aware. If you did not get the iPod connector with your Spyder, make sure if you buy one you get the correct cable!!!!!
This is important!

Up to about mid 2012 the iPod cable had a black box on it. This box converted voltages, etc to work with the iPod.
After about mid 2012 the radio changed and the new iPod cable no longer has the black box.

If you use the new cable on your 2011 you can possibly fry your iPod because of the missing black box.

Not sure about an older model but on a 2014 you can use either. For an mp3 player you use the 3.5mm cable. The only thing that you can control from the handlebar module with that setup is the volume, however.
That what I thought, have the 3.5 cable as will as the iPod cable!

You are amazing !

Ipod connection

I plug my Ipod into the right side rear compartment and it looks like it's seen, however I do not see it on my screen up front. Anyone had this problem or am I just mental?

Resurrecting this older thread to ask a similar question. Has anyone successfully copied Audible books to a MicroSD card and had them play from the Can-Am branded Zumo 660?

I have had an Audible account for 15 years and have listened to books off 3 different Garmin devices, as well as numerous PDAs and iPhones. This Zumo 660 has, what I will call DRM issues.

I've spent about 5 hours on the phone with Amazon support (they now own Audible) and it is as if they want to kill the product. Using the Audible App, I can copy books to either the SD card or to the internal memory. I have authorized the device. Amazon has done the same, using Microsoft Remote Manager and they get the same results. The file copies but the application on the Zumo says that "the device is not authorized" to play the content.

Im asking the question here to see if anyone has even attempted this. Amazon is clueless (I knew more about the application than did their tech support). I know that Garmin crops parts of the software out of the branded devices that they sell to BMW so I'm attempting to determine if BRP paid the DRM fees or not.

I listen to both music and audiobooks from Audible through my Zumo 660. I never had an issue with the "device is not authorized" warning . . . I copy the Audible file into a folder on my Zumo 660's Micro SD card called "Books"

I didn't see this elsewhere on this thread, but I'm going to guess that you have too large a memory card in the device. I looked at the Zumo 660 manual and it didn't mention the size.

I had a Zumo 550 and it wouldn't work with the 16 CB card I bought. I got a 4 GB card and it worked fine. Someone mentioned success using a 32 GB card, so that may be the max size for the unit.

I'd call Garmin technical support and ask them that question.
