• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OK, I NEED SOME REASSURANCE. I MADE A DEPOSIT ON THE RT BACK IN DECEMBER OF 09 AND HAVE NOT AS OF YET TAKEN DELIVERY,BUT ALL THE TALK OF STEERING PROBLEMS AND SERVICE ISSUES ARE MAKING ME A LITTLE NERVOUS. I'M BEGINNING TO QUESTION THE WISDOM OF MY DECISION. I TRADED IN A VERY NICE O7 YAMAHA TOUR DELUXE WITH 29K MILES. SOMEONE,ANYONE TELL ME I DID'NT MAKE A MISTAKE. ARE THESE BIKES RELIABLE OR HAVE I SIMPLY FALLEN FOR ALL THE HYPE?

My wife purchased a Spyder two years ago, and I just purchased an RT-S myself. I will not belittle the very real issues that some owners have had. I also do not wish to minimize the issues Toyota owners have had, Ford F-150 owners have had, etc. All are very real, and disturbing to those who have experienced them, and many who have heard about them. I will say this, and it is my opinion and mine alone. First, the Internet magnifies problems. That is an acknowledged fact. People with problems are more likely to be vocal than those without. That noise is sometimes misinterpreted as meaning many owners are involved. Many times that is not so. Only a small percentage of this forums members have experienced the problems you speak of. I expect that applies for all Spyders sold. Are you taking a chance...yes, but you do that even when you cross the street. It's your call on how much risk is actually involved. If I thought it was excessive, I certainly would not have bought again, nor would I even let my wife ride. Second, the RT has different components and steering geometry. We don't really know how different they actually are. We also do not know if it will experience these issues. None have been reported yet. Many thousands of miles were put on the prototypes with no such difficulties. I think that is a good sign. I am happy. I can't make the choice for you, though.

Jitters and patience

I work in high tech and have found that either you want something new and are willing to put up with a little or you play it safe and buy the 2006 model of something that is proven and probably will still have some problems. I also have a history of work roles that have danger or high stress related to them and having jitters is good because your body is talking to you -- now you can figure out what your mind thinks. Do you want to be safe and proven or are you willing to take an opportunity to try something new that may possibly have some growing pains. Either way I hope you make a decision that you will appreciate and enjoy for the long term.

You won't know until you know. My advice would be to not second guess your decision. Just take what you get and go with it. (always works for me):f_spider:

There have not been any report of steering issues on the RT that I know of.

As well documented on this forum, some people have issues with their Spyders. I turned over 10,000 miles yesterday and have had a few minor issues. My Spyder has been very reliable, with no downtime for repairs. I would definitely buy it again.

THANKS TO THOSE OF YOU WHO RESPONDED TO MY CONCERNS AS A FIRST TIME SPYDER 'BYTE'. ALL OF YOUR COMMENTS ARE VALID AND APPRECIATED,I'M PURCHASING THE RT FOR IT'S SAFETY FACTOR, KNEES ARE NO LONGER WHAT THEY USED TO BE,NEITHER IS THE REST OF MY BODY FOR THAT MATTER. I AM EAGER TO TAKE DELIVERY AND ENJOY MANY MILES OF RIDING PLEASURE.

Amen .... ain't that the truth. If you are not living life on the edge .... you might be taking up too much room.welcome

On my ryde last night my engine light came on and then went off and did the same thing this morning. Called the dealership and they think it's probably a code glitch. I'll have tit checked out tomorrow. I'm not going to stress over it. As a new member to this forum i freaked with every new horror story. A few on here can attest to that. You just roll the dice and play them as they lay. I've enjoyed my 900 miles on her so far and a little inconvenience isn't going to change that. Listen to Lamont. "Don't worry, be happy"
