• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I just purchased a 2008 Spyder GS SM5. Can someone tell from the pics if this is the new or old Gas Cap?
Thanx in advance.IMG_0778.jpgIMG_0779.jpg

Welcome. ..to the 🎪

Not sure what those are but niether one is a can am gas cap. Not to say they are not fine as there are others out there....only difference I remember was the color of the gasket...:dontknow:

Looks like the old one to me also.

The problem is BRP customer service will not do any thing because the service history says the dealer the original owner used replaced it. I'm not super concerned about a 10 dollar part, but it makes me wonder what else they charged BRP for and didn't do.:banghead:

youngers: No it does NOT seal. I will check with another dealer. The one I stopped at wants $115.00 (1 shop hour) to "inspect" the bike and tell me what service they think it needs.

The replacement caps were useless anyway because often after 18 months or so the mechanism goes in them and you find yourself stuck at a petrol station unable to remove the gas cap. Wouldn't surprise me if this happened to the previous owner and the went back to using the old cap. This may well be why BRP think its been replaced.

If you are getting another it may be worth getting a Stant one instead. Can't remember the part number but I suspect someone else will.

Yeah I put a Stant fuel cap on it. Any time the bike needs parts I will opt for after market when available.
