• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

new owner! fog light and floor board help!?

I'm a proud new owner of an 08 gs/rs sm5 can am, just picked it up this week. I've been digging around trying to find the most active forum and this seems to be the one. As time goes by I'll get more educated but right now I'm pretty green.

However, I have two questions. I have oem halogen foglights installed on mine and I was wondering what led bulb size I need to purchase so I can get a crisp white color instead of the dull amber that comes factory. It contrasts with the oem hid headlights and drives me crazy! >.<

The other questions I have is what floorboards give you the most leg stretch, which are closest to the ground. I'm tall at 6'3" and the where the factory pegs are cramps me up just a tad bit in the knees. I found the rivco have a 2" drop, is there anyone who can give experience or help about other options... most comfortable for someone tall?

thanks!

Zach

ok so details on the bike. Premier Edition #346. I bought it with all the following OEM accessories dealer installed. Hindle exhaust, touring windshield, side deflectors, brake pad caliper covers, passenger backrest, sports rack, comfort seats, HID headlights, fog lights, anti vibration bar ends, 6 spoke custom wheels, trunk liner, handle bar riser block, and he also threw in an extra set of brand new Kenda front tires, ultrasport smoke tint windshield and oem windshield, synthetic amsoil and oil filter for next oil change. And the most fabulous thing about it... Only 400 miles.

I also just ordered Roadlok, a disc lock to give me some piece of mind my bike will be home when I get back from work and I ordered an oem outdoor storage cover.

I would suggest taking a look at Web-Boards. They make a nice set of floorboards for Rs/RSS. We have them and really like them. Do a search on the forum for them and you'll see some pictures and reviews as well :)

If you have HID's installed on the headlights, the only good way to match them is to convert the foglights to HID's of the same color temperature. You may be able to come close, however, with Extreme White replacement bulbs from PIAA. Be aware that they probably won't last as long as stock, and may have slightly less output, however. P.S. They are expensive for what you get.

low boards

these are pretty easy to make, if you are so inclined. there are several variations as well if you read thru the my mods pages.

Welcome!

Let us know if there's any information or help you'd like with RIVCO floorboards. And how about some photos of your Spyder!

thanks for the quick replies!

I'll dig up the reviews here in a bit on them like you stated but in your opinion, did they give you more leg room? I like the looks of them but comfort is more important, which is what rivco is suggesting. Again I'm a lanky fella. :P

Is the bulb size for the fog lights the same as the headlights? h7??? I know hid's would be the best way to go, but already having the oem halogen fog lights in there, I feel I should just leave them.

I think the foglights are H3, but don't quote me on that. They are different...best to pull one and check.

Welcome, I have a 08 sm5 also, I just changed out my headlight bulbs to HD a couple of weeks ago, i don't have fog lights so I cannot help you on that part other then that have fun on your spyder

Ive got an sm5 as well and love the Rivco floorboards. They include sport pegs that replace the original pegs. I use them often when shifting or braking or turning.

The Rivco boards are as low as possible and are even with the lowest lines on the Spyder.

Im 6 foot even and they are great for me but I also got highway pegs for when I need to stretch out. Being taller Im sure you could use some as well. I got the ones with the big flat brackets that bolt underneath and mount the pegs on the outside of the bat wings. For your height Id stay away from the ones that mount above the bat wings.

I had the 1/8" diamond plate Aluminum bent in a 3" Z shape bolted to the frame up front and the back under the foot pet for a total of 4" drop. The F B are flat and
VERY comfortable! You can do for under $50.00 save lots of $ $ $ for a few

Yea I think that's going to be the way for me to go. I got to sit on one with the isci fb and it was a huge difference from where the factory pegs are mounted. I also like the look. Now I haven't tried the Rivco, but if what you're saying is right, the isci will be an inch lower. Costs a good penny more, but it's worth the money.

I've been making Seal Floorboards for the RS SM5 and RS SE5 since '09. They pffer tremendous forward and rear foot movement. Great for flexing the knees on those long rides.

Ride in comfort,
John
