There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It's been about a week now and have not heard any confirmation of BRP officially changing the oil spec for the Spyder. I see the Spyder listed on the new syn blend bottle, but the Operator's Guide says full syn. Dealers can say the new blend is the right oil, but BRP needs to clear this up with a service bulletin. Getting close to Spring oil change time.

I certainly agree. Checked with my dealer last week, and he hadn't even heard about the new syn-blend oil. Guess they still have a stock of full synthetic. We joked about how it was a good way for BRP to get out of warranty claims...require synthetic oil in a certain weight, but offer only a blend, and in two weights. Meanwhile, the search goes on for someplace to buy 5W-40 Castrol. BRP, if you're listening, you need to clear this up ASAP!

Looks like Castrol R4 Superbike 5W-40 synthetic might be the same as BRP syn oil, but can't find any dealers who carry it. I have heard for 20 years since I bought my first Sea Doo that Castrol makes BRP oil, but can't get anyone to confirm. I guess it doesn't matter if you can't get the Castrol product. I do see it listed on some web sites for $10-$11 a quart, so it is cheaper than BRP syn oil.

The answer for Castrol shipped to your door! They will be getting my business. I have used Castrol 20W50 for years and never had any engine failures. I may be kicking myself later, but I will go to the 10W40 Act-Evo Synthetic Blend.

wasn't it Rotella that Lamonster had changed to and well in his 7000 mile trip, we know what happened! I agree though that BRP better get this cleared up. The wet clutch depends alot on viscosity of the oil to operate properly.
Oddly enough, I think when I took my SE5 in for first oil change, the dealer said that the "break-in oil was not BRP 5w-40w" But I clearly saw them take the quarts off their shelf in the parts department and replace my oil with BRP. I also bought the last 2 quarts they had in stock for myself.
When I returned for 3000 mile service, (actually had 4000mi), they were pushing Castrol...... I told them to use the BRP instead, which they did. Would sure like to know what they may have known. (Are they the same?)

Followed an oil thread to DooTalk where one post again claims that Castrol produces BRP oil. Castrol RS R4 5W-40 looks to be the same as BRP syn oil, but still can't get my hands on any to compare. Proformanceusa.com sells 1 liter bottle for $10.32 and 4 liter jug for $37.78. Free shipping on orders over $50 ($2.50 packaging fee).
The new supplier is DE CECCO they have been in the oil biz since 1887 and only use Italian Olives I had some on my salad tonight not bad extra virgin though I prefer the 10/40 blend :thumbup:

Time to wake up and smell the roses....BRP will purchase oil from any supplier who offers the best deal. Then they put their label on it and jack up the price. XPS Synthetic oil used to be green in color. That was when Castrol was making it. Then the color changed to brown. Did they switch suppliers? No one will fess up to it. BRP puts full synthetic in their non supercharged PWC, even for break in. Not using full synthetic for engine break in is a myth that should have been put out to pasture years ago. Most of todays high performance cars come with it straight from the factory. For the price BRP charges for their semi synthetic, one could purchase a name brand full synthetic that would out perform the BRP crap !
