There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. New mpg record!

Have no idea what I get in mpg. I just go until it is near the E.
I do know every time I throw my leg over the seat my fun meter is pegged!

Ditto... I did it for about a month. Was seeing an average of 29 MPG. I decided that taking the time to record the data was interfering with my fun, so I just ride until I need gas...

Now I only log mileage when I think there may be a problem, or on a long solo trip. When I do, I actually record it the way CincySpyder showed me his method.

At fill up, get out the phone, take a picture of the pump reading, and the odometer. Then save for later calculations...

The proper way to figure milage is to throw out the high and low then average the rest..

With the small tank on the Spyder and no firm way to fill to the same level each time a proper way is to use total gallons and total miles, if you throw anything out your losing data.

On a recent trip I hit 200mi with one bar left. I believe the 40mpg claims. Disclaimer: seems to be the norm at high altitudes. I regularly get 35+mpg

my speedo is about 6% high and i used my gps.

so the mpg is actually 6% lower than what is showing using the miles on the speedo devided by the gals. used
at least on my spyder

I have heard that the speedometer is off didn't occur to me the odometer was off too but it makes sense.

HOW'S THIS 58.327 MPG based on a 1/2 tank of gas going down 21 % grade with a 14 knot tailwind ............and this is about the same accuracy as yours......If you want to measure MPG's use about 100 tankfulls and you still won't be really close .......Mike :gaah: :agree: :roflblack:
I agree. I've kept mpg records for three years and 25,000 miles... 31.64 mpg. That's riding one up and 50% interstate. I have had a couple of tanks that register in the upper 30's, but that has been on 45 mph limited access parkways.

Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou.....I'm glad someone else here gets it.......MIKE  People you can only come even relatively close to an average MPG after accurately compiling figures for a few thousand miles because a the variances involved in just filling the tank.......Coming up with an MPG figure based on a TANK of GAS :bdh: Pa-leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze

We, that would be me and the wife - two up, just finished riding the Natchez Trace in three days and managed 41 mpg on our 2012 RT Limited. However our average speed was only 51 mph and our average over the life of the bike, 11.6 months, is 28.97 mpg.

How else would you figure the mileage on one tank of gas? I didn't see anyone say that the MPG calculated for one tank of gas was their average for many tanks of gas. We usually go to New Mexico for a few days every year to ride in the mountains around Taos. Every year I have 2 or 3 tanks that figure over 40 MPG even though my average mileage is under 30. That tells me that, for whatever reason, I get better mileage in the mountains than I do on the flats around home. How would you interpret it? Cotton

Are you located in the town of West, TX? Or in the part of the state west Texas? I am in Andrews which is in west Texas.

I'm actually just north of Bronte, Texas. About 150 miles east of you. Yeah, just saying west Texas can be a little confusing since there is a town named West, Texas. Been through Andrews a few times and actually worked a couple of days there back some years ago. Seems I remember a pretty good Mexican Food place there. Cotton

The town is growing like a weed with all the drilling going on. "They" say it will double in the next 10 to 15 yrs. I will be retired and moved hopefully to Georgetown, TX by then. If you ever make it out this way again let me know.

gas

On our trip out west I got almost 40 mpg on two tanks going thru NewMexico.I thought it was a fluk because most of the time we were getting around 32.Maby we should all just ride in NewMexico.

GAS AVERAGES ?? ?

Think about it..........................How can you possibly have an " average " based on ONE ..........one anything ,tank of gas ...flavor of A hot dog....taste of A bag of popcorn, etc.......Now had He said I got 41 mpg on a 250 mile trip I just took..............I wouldn't have thought much about it ...except good for you.......Mike

I have on more than one occasion, gotten 50 MPG while riding scenic roads, 45-50 MPH, 4th gear, on cruise. To me, MPG is not a rocket science operation. Fill up, reset the trip meter, fill up again at some point, do the math. Rounding off to the nearest whole number is a lot less stressful. If one needs to know EXACTLY, to avoid pushing the Spyder, you WILL push it one day. Let's ride and enjoy, people. Life is too short to be perfect.
