• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Good morning and Happy Labor Day weekend. New member here, I picked up a 2018 RT Ltd Dark yesterday and looking forward to happy motoring,

I am not normally a big cleaner or machines, but I am wondering what folks use to wash/clean/polish?

Also, do a lot of folks buy an aftermarket seat or one of the BRP seats? I have Russell Day Long on the Gold Wing.

of course I will look at the different forums also for info,

Thanks in advance, Paul

cleaning

I had the silver cycle , just washed it with hose , cleaned it with soft towels , ( not paper towels ) used Maguire's cleaner , to get the water spots , did not use wax , although I did not ride 1,ooo of miles , the cycle looked like new still ! -------- > and yours may differ , you live in the sand region of the states , with Texas and new Mexico , I bet these folks use some different technics ! from your post I guess you have a dark color cycle ? this will also be a different style of polishing , not to leave swirl marks ... ( easier steps 1 -2- blow those troubles away ---- spray with hose , clean off dirt spray again and blow dry with leaf blower , or exhaust from out door vacuum

Lots of choices on cleaning. For heavy dirt I use car wash soap and a leaf blower. For general cleaning and detailing I use Pledge and a micro fiber towel. As you know for comfort Nothing beats RDL for a seat. IMHO

What he said about heavy dirt! For light stuff I use Lamonster's Black Diamond Detailer.

Welcome to the :ani29: Family. Congrates on the new ride. Most of the time I use blue corral car wash, then blow the bike off with a small leaf blower. If I'm feeling lazy I just dust it off with a feather duster made for a car and take off.

:welcome: and :congrats: on your new ryde.

I recommend giving your :f_spider: a thousand miles or so before doing any "performance" altering modifications.

OEM seats are notoriously "soft." I have replaced five out of five.
Currently using BRP comfort seats. Others will chime in on that one.

Lots of appearance farkles. You can't have to many lights.

Welcome

:welcome: and :congrats:. You have landed on a great forum. Better than landing on the moon.

Feeling Guilty

This thread is making me feel guilty. I haven't washed mine in months! (I've owned in less than a year)

Me too. Washed them once so far this year. Did about fifteen miles of road construction yesterday--one side was mud/gravel. Both :ani29:'s got dirty. Probably one more wash coming next week.

Weather permitting

If the weather is nice enough to wash the Spyder the weather is right to ride! The windshield gets cleaned when it is gas up time.

Just my 2 cents.

Paul,
just a few weeks until the Oklahoma Rally. Come, talk to a bunch of folks, ask all the questions you can think of, test sit some seats. Keeping it clean also allows you to find loose parts, leaks, whatever. Several vendors will be there, including us, to supply you with what you need. I hope to see you there!! Joe

I would keep the stock seat for a while. You may just like it. I couldn't make up my mind so I bought a Corbin and an Ultimate Seat. I had three seats for about 6 months. Rode them all and discovered that the stock seat with an Air Hawk cushion was the best for me.

In my opinion, there are a lot more things to farkle-up before the seat.

Congratulations on your purchase. I enjoy mine more and more every day.

+1 Lamonster's Black Diamond Detailer and a couple clean microfiber cloths. Always looks spotless.

Welcome, welcome 👍

Welcome to the spyder world and this awesome site :clap:used a lot of cleaners and currently use 303 . I have the comfort seat and works well for me but butts are like fingerprint...:roflblack: all different...
