• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OK, so is this hobby a "sickness"? :)

I ask if the hobby is a sickness, because I've already decided I would prefer a new 2011 RTS, and want to sell Spyder Sam who I have NEVER ridden yet. It's not that I want the newest and greatest, but for my age group of female rider (particularly with early osteoporosis), the RT appears to be more comfortable to me as a Baby Boom rider. Initially, the RT was not as "attractive" to me but now it seems so. I tried to post a "sale" ad on Craigs List last night and they yanked it (do not know why, no reason given). I'm actually willing to take a loss on the bike and purchased several options that I can either remove and sell separately or include with the bike.

I have also been a part of the high-end audiophile industry, and that truly is a hobby where people buy, sell, trade, eagerly. I no longer have the highend audio upgrade bug and doubt I will but it was a big part of my life for 8 years.

Would appreciate your advice, and guidance. My brother is involved here, and he can vouch for my sincerity and "Spyder" illness. :)

Nancy is a boomer, getting her Spyder RS as her first ride, at age 55. She actually prefers her RS, having ridden both. I would suggest you put some time in Sam's saddle, and maybe demo the RT a few times for comparison during the season. You are going to take a big financial hit anyway, so why not wait and see. You may find you much prefer the RS. It is certainly sexier and more attention getting. It is also very adaptable, having a pretty good variety of BRP and aftermarket accessories and bling to choose from. The mods alone are a "sickness", and may satisfy your craving. :D My vote is to ride a while, then decide later if you want to make a switch. The RSS may be your dream machine. You will never know if you walk away now.

Yes, it is a sickness, and we don't want the cure!

Hi Mary,

Congrats on the plunge into SpyderRyding!! You'll have a ton of fun, whatever you ride!

We're newbies too (since April 10), with an RT-S and trailer.... and we had more fun with it than we ever imagined. We're hopelessly hooked, and have NO interest in the cure! Can't wait for Spring!

Bill & Sandy

welcome

Thank you all for the great advice. I am going to get to know the RS better before I make any decisions, and possibly add a few mods. I'll keep you all posted. Now, let's just get some decent riding weather! :2thumbs:
