Howdy from SW Missouri!

I will start by saying that I don't currently own a Spyder. I have been perusing this site for some time to gather Intelligence! I also visited a Spyder dealer in Kansas last week and was impressed with what I saw and learned on a preliminary basis.

I have been riding since December of 1962, when I was 15 1/2 and attained my Motorcycle endorsement. Fast forward and I'm on my 79th Bike/scooter and currently ride a 2012 Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive and a 2012 Triumph Rocket 3 Roadster.

My wife says she really likes the idea of my not having to balance a bike while she gets on and off and we both worry about a 'tip over' at an intersection due to sand/ gravel/ liquids etc, that wouldn't be a problem on a Spyder.

I'm excited to participate in the discussions on this forum realizing that I know nothing about the Spyder except what I've read over the years and lots of it negative, sorry to say. I'm anticipating that the new 3 cylinder scoots will be more reliable and user friendly. (No valve adjustments!!!)

The Rocket III is a really nice ride. The 1330 Triple is not as much a screamer--but I really like mine. 21K miles and still liking it.

You are always going to find some negatives. That is what a lot of people like to vent about. The site gives people that opportunity.

Of late, with the 2013 heat issues pretty much solved--the negativity has seemed to go down quite a bit.

Take the time the test drive all the models. They vary quite a bit in feel and handling. Spyders are a great choice to extend your riding life. Welcome to the forum. Lots of good information here.

I've been riding since about 76 at the age of 10 but always off road. I have been wanting a on road toy for years. I had a motorhome and off road toys I drug all over the US.

All I can leave you with is take one or all of them for a ride. My wife is very comfortable on the back of our 14 RT limited and this was from the woman that swore to never ride the streets in a helmet. One ride and she was pushing me to buy.....yes I just said...er.....wrote that. Twilight ish I know.......

I find it very relaxing and so does she....therapudic even and a ride no bike/car can match in my humble opinion.

I bought mine Monday before last at Big St. Charles Motorsports.

This is, without a doubt, the best place to gather Spyder Info!
Just understand that people largely talk about their problems and not as much about their joyful experiences. Don't relate that talk to mean that these machines are problematic. They are not.
The name says it all.... If they were, we wouldn't be Spyderlovers!

Thank you so much for the heartfelt welcome!

The Spyder will be for me as the only rider although years ago, in the California deserts, my wife rode her own dirtbike as I participated in different races.

I've determined that I will get a new 3 cylinder model, probably short of the Goldwing like full dresser. I had a new 2012 Goldwing and got tired of the 'Karate' kick to get on the beast and the 'grab my right leg stunt' to get off of it It felt the same when I got on and off of the full dresser at the Spyder dealership.

Right now I am leaning towards the manual 6 speed so as to avoid any potential problems with the auto-trans models, that still seem to have issues. The dealer that I will probably purchase from is 45 miles one way and although I have a large ride-on motorcycle trailer, I don't relish the idea of frequent dealer visits.

I will continue to read and learn and maybe soon-----
