• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Longer Semi-Auto Trans Filter

Anyone know where to get the longer Auto Trans, SE5, filters except from the dealer?
Thanks!

How much does your dealer charger? When they first came out, the dealers were charging about $8, give or take a few cents, but last time I checked my local they had jumped the price to about $10, and you still get the cap with it! Seems they'd drop the cap and charge less for the filter; its been about a year and half now...........:banghead:

longer oil filter

Yeah, it came in the oil change kit I got off amazon, case, filter&o ring, Plus I ordered magnet drain plugs for both! o9 gs

Seems to me..!!

dealer is still the only one with the longer filter. But as stated the kits (brp at amazon and ebay) have all you need if you use their oil. Hopefully Ron will start selling them soon.

Yep - hope so. I just turned 1,000, so the dealer is going to handle this one with the 1,000 dealer service. He is charging 325.00, not so bad I suppose.

Just to close the loop - got the Spyder back from the dealer today, first service, was 301.00. Very reasonable I thought. Full synthetic oil and a good check up. The miles will tell the tale! Planning our first three day trip this weekend. Very excited.

No one is making the extended filter and no one has plans to make it. I was working with HiFlo (also the maker of K&N oil filters) when this filter first came out. They engineered the filter but before it went into production the bean counters canceled the project.

They said that since the only application for this filter is the SE5 V-Twin Spyder's, (no other vehicle on the planet uses this filter) there just isn't the potential volume to turn a profit. It appears that all of the aftermarket filter producers have come to the same conclusion.

So, unless you have the OEM transmission filter cover, your only option for this filter is BRP. My filter kits will cover everything except the extended filter.

If anyone does start making this filter, I will carry it. But don't hold your breath.

How about stocking and selling the OEM trans filter to sell as part of your oil change kits in the mean time. I don't wish to use BRP oil and I am sure there are others here that was rather be able to purchase kits of the correct items needed for DIY oil changes.

Why not just buy the filters from your dealer and the oil from Ron, if that's what you want?

Why drive 100 miles when I am placing an order anyway for delivery to my door step? Going to the dealer, often 2 trips as they stock NOTHING is a waste of time and gas.

Mail order might be a good option, just separate orders for filters and the oil. Honda Toledo East and several other SpyderLovers sponsors can supply you, or you could order directly from BRP at http://store.spyder.brp.com/.
