Hi To All,
First I would like to thank all here for a very informative and helpful forum. Learned a lot of great things here.
Got a Cognac RT Limited a little over a month ago. Have about 850 miles on it so far. Finally starting to get used to riding it. Had to add the BajaRon sway bar at 200 miles which made a great improvement to the handling...but who would name their son Baja?
Things i like:
- Very comfortable.
- With the sway bar, the handling is very nice.
- I'm more relaxed riding this than my previous sport bikes.
- My wife enjoys it...which means so do I. Plus she moved around a lot on the other bike which drove me crazy. On this I could care less.
Things I Don't Like
- Miss the challenge of riding a MC...although this has its own challenges.
- How many times am I going to be a salesman for this thing...so many questions.
- Frunk electronic release advertised as being on the bike...but not. Contacted BRP and they said they had problems with it and removed it. Recommended I don't install it. They really should replace it. Not right to advertise the thing and not make an adjustment.
Recalls
- Fuel tank cap and windshield bracket need to be done. Apparently mine is not needing the key ignition to be replaced.
Mods
- Sway Bar.
- Adjustable Side Vents.
- Bought a Goldwing vent that I will install on my stock windshield.
- Want to either install the Elka shocks or the shock spring wedges that some of you have installed. Probably will go with the wedges since they are on $20 and see if I like that. Will I miss anything by not doing Elkas?
- Spyderladies cover for the seat...what a nice product...not really a mod though.
Problems To Be Corrected
- Front tires have a noicable oscillation between 55 and 65 even after a rebalancing by the dealer. Have contacted BRP and asked for a replacement. We shall see.
- The Dongle was installed in the frunk which seems to lead to an excessive amount of noise being picked up by the wiring. Suspect either a ground loop or poor shielding on the wiring. Will ask the dealer to correct or relocate.
I don't seem to have problems in the wind or with trucks...even before the sway bar. I've learned to ride with very relaxed arms and a very gentle touch on the handlebars which has help a lot. I let the suspension do its thing with limited me being involved. Seems to help. Corners before the sway bar are another thing. Scared the bajeebers out of me the first several hundred miles. Not sure what a bajeeber is but I don't have them any more.
Still warming up to bike but am really starting to enjoy the thing. Have had some real nice trips to the NJ shore and lower Bucks county.
I'm even getting waves from two wheelers. :yikes: So far I'm at about 80% on the wave returns. Even had a cruiser rider ask about the bike. Said he was going to get one some day.
Anyways, hi to all and again many thanks for a great site.
Scott
