• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Kind of Farkle

Harvey

New member
Recently, I purchased a 2013 RT Limited with matching trailer (black currant). When parked, I leave the music play from my iPod. Usually it is riding music or patriotic music. Have had many people ask questions and have enjoyed great discussions. Today I added a new playlist to the iPod. After each song (upbeat riding music) you will hear the theme music from Knight Rider (1 minute 14 seconds). In addition to the music, I place an 8x10 plastic framed sandwich board (readable from both sides) on the seat with general information about the Spyder. The information is based on what questions I have had in the past six weeks of ownership. It is in Microsoft word format, and if you want a copy, PM me with your email address and I will send you a copy. Harvey...

Interesting..!!

are you about or are they on their on reading and listening to the music..? Do you have the scrolling red lights up front..? Good one..!!

I put the placard out when I am going to be away from the bike, so they are on their own. The music generates a welcome atmosphere and so far has not caused anyone to twist, turn or move anything. Everyone, including children has kept their hands off. As for the scrolling lights, NOT YET, but possibly in the future. Riding is fun, but it is also fun to listen to questions and watch people's reaction when viewing or learning about the Spyder. Harvey (formerly from So Cal - Orange County)

So Harvey, I thought the key would have to be in the ignition in order to keep the music playing. How long does it play for typically? I have heard so many times about users running down the battery when leaving the music playing that I have avoided this.

Thanks,

Thanks,
After you turn off the key, press and hold the MODE button for about 3-5 seconds. You DO NOT have to leave the key in. I have let mine play for 20 minutes and have not run my battery down. When you want to shut off the music, press the flasher button, turning your flashers on, and then press it again to turn your flashers off and the music (radio system) turns off. Of course, I do run the Spyder for a length of time (usually riding another 15 - 60 minutes) to be sure the battery has recharged. If you do not re-charge and do this several times, you probably will have a dead battery. It just takes a little understanding of usage and being willing to adjust accordingly.

Fantastic idea.....

This is a fantastic idea......may have to try it.

Nice! Very cool.

As a point if clarification, the RT model was first introduced in 2010. There were PE's (Premiere Edition), RT, RT A&C (Audio & Convenience), and RTS models introduced in the inaugural year for the new RT lineup. Yes, the Limited model was first introduced in 2011.

I have left my radio / music playing for HOURS and have not run the battery down. It does shut off by itself and I did not time it but it is like 4 hours or so.
