There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. New hardware for rattling windshields?

Questions

While searching through the parts catalog on-line at the BRP site the only windshield related hardware I could find that the part number changed between 2010 and 2012 was:

2010 -
#22-retainer pin - 705003294 1 ea.
#23-retainer pin - 705003295 2 ea.
#24-circlip - 705600272 3 ea.

2011 - Same as 2010

2012 -
#22 - retainer pin - 705005974 1 ea.
#23 - retainer pin - 705005973 2 ea.
#24 - hexalob screw -250000565 6 ea.
#24a-windshield rubber bumper 705005666 (was on list but could not find in parts breakdown)

Can anyone confirm that the 2012 items listed are the correct items needed to stop the rattling windshield?

My 2012 makes a little noise but not like my friends 2011. However, the change might be to address the problem with breakage of the supports. Maybe both.

I doubt it. The dogbone breaks along its backbone, not across the "T" section.

I'm still worried about mine breaking again.

The linkage on my 2010 RTS hasn't cracked or broken yet but it does rattle quite a bit when going over bumps in the road. Thought I'd do a little preventative maint. before it does.

Interesting.... during a recent inspection before a ride I noticed that there was a slight fracture on my center windshield arm. I had thought that there was a lot of play in the windshield but figured it was normal with 12K on my RT. After my dealer replaced the arm the windshield is now quite firm and there isn't much movement at all when I'm riding. None of those parts were replaced but mine is solid as a rock now.

My 2010 RT has had an irritating rattle in the windshield from day one. No cracks in the pivot arms, but would like to get rid of the rattling. It is especially loud when the windshield is up from it's lowest position. Hardly any rattle when it's all the way down.

With the screen in its lowest position the dog-bone arm comes up against a metal stop. The rubber buffer may be an attempt to cushion the dog-bone from the metal to metal clattering the arm is subject to. Maybe this is the cause of the fractures we've been hearing about. :ani29:

That is an interesting thought. My windshield support broke and I always ride with it at the lowest setting. Now that it has been replaced it no longer rattles.

Was it replaced using the parts now available for 2012, as listed by buddybear?
Was a rubber bumper included in the screen rise and fall mechanism that you have now?

(Please excuse the grilling, Ma'am!) :roflblack:

Good question. I do not know the answer but I hope that the rubber baby buggy bumper was installed. :roflblack:

In my original post I asked what hardware was needed to fix the rattling windshield and gave a list of what I found with descriptions and part numbers. I never did get an answer to that question so I will ask again. Does anyone have this info or can confirm the hardware listed on my original post is correct?

inquiring minds want to know...

almost 10k mi on my 2012 RT A&C, and notice it rattles a little bit. but can't see whats causing it. all bolts are tight, yet it will move in it's brackets about 1/8 ".
