• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

new guy question: helmets

Newbie and wondered about thoughts of best modular or full face helmets. The cooler the better b/c of summer riding. Sure there is a thread but can't find it.

I is truly a personal preference. There is no one answer to this question.

But if you decide on an Arai or Nolan helmet, let me know. I've got some very good prices on these brands.

Whatever you chose it should fit you and be comfortable. Brand is not the deciding factor. My wife wears a Sedici XL modular and I wear an HJC 3X modular because it fits my big round head.

i agree there is no wrong answer. I have a Torc T12b which has bluetooth to listen to music or GPS and can rider to rider at short distances and spent less than 200 on it. Plus has my favorite feature of the drop down sun visor and and is DOT and ECE approved. You can buy helmets that do nothing for $1,000

After racing motorcycles for years I never thought I'd use anything but a full face helmet….usually an Arai but after getting the Spyder I tried on several helmets and decided on the Arai CT-Z open face helmet…..I really like it….I have a Sena 20s system on it….it is very comfortable and I think Arai is hard to beat for quality….I'd give it try and see if it fits you well….helmets that fit aren't all that noticiable but a helmet that doesn't fit…..really is!

This will be my next helmet. The Shark Evoline 3 ST.

This is one of the best modulars out there because if it's ability to actually ride with the chin bar up.

Go to revzilla and they likely have a video like the one above on just about every helmet. That's a good site to check out any kind of motorcycle gear.

P/J approved

Mine is a Caberg Duke. Chose this helmet because it fitted my head comfortably and is P/J approved which means I can legally ride with flip up in the UK.

The reality is you are going to receive so many options that it will be analysis/paralysis. Personally, I don't think there is a one climate helmet and the reality is you are going to have to just purchase more than one!

I think a great place to shop that has video reviews is Revzilla. Their prices are pretty good and their service is stellar. www.revzilla.com They also have all of the user reviews online from the customers to further help your thinking. Another tip is to go one size up. If you aren't sure that you are a med/lg or a lg/xl, go one size up.

As far as helmets go, I purchased the Shark Raw(because it looks cool) and I still get plenty of wind. My wife went with the Shoei Rf 1200 because it's super quiet, wind tunnel tested, light and lot's of technology. I could see myself buying up to something like that for longer trips but we'll see.

Good luck!

Edit: I didn't realize others have posted Revzilla when I posted this. Great minds think alike which should also tell you where to shop! Good luck.

I have a Shoei Multitec, and my wife has a Schuberth C3 Women. Since, no two helmets are the same. Some will fit your head better than others, and you just have to keep trying until you find a helmet that works for you. If you find one that fits you really good, keep it on for a while in the store. I bought one, one time, and it fit great for about 15mins, but after having it on my head for an hour I couldn't wait to take it off. I only found this out after a ride, and had to sell it, and get something else. Also, you generally get what you pay for when it comes to a helmet.

It is protecting the most valuable part of your body, so don't cheap out.

:welcome: You will get many, many suggestions here because helmets are very personal.

We like the modular types and currently use Nolan 43 and 44 versions the most.

Fit, Comfort, Fit, Comfort - nothing ruins a Ryde like a headache brought on by a poor fitting helmet.. I survived completely totaling a Spyder on the side of a trailer truck (his fault) without any injury to me so I am partial to HJC even though they aren't one of the expensive brands

FYI...

I wouldn't suggest trying this method...
