• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Garmin 590LM

It's that darn word "premium" tacked onto it :-)

It looks great. Lately I've just used my phone with Mapquest. My Galaxy S2 will send voice directions via bluetooth to my Sena headset; however, I don't have enough room for offline maps so if my cell signal goes, I'm boned. This looks nice. As my wife and I start venturing farther, this may have go to on a Christmas list. Thanks for posting.

No XM

Look like it doesn't come with XM Satellite radio support. I've come to depend on that with my current 665LM.

Looks like the same 4 screws to mount to the BRP mount. So it would not flip up on the standard BRP mount. I was hoping there would be a plate behind that has a ball to allow it to twist.

I am completely at a loss to know why Garmin, or anyone else for that matter, would think that a thin vertical screen would be preferable to a fat wide screen for showing a road map. Someone whose eyes are single file might love it but I don't don't remember seeing anyone like that, I'm sure I would have noticed. :yikes: :roflblack:

Was going to use my cell since I love the GPS Navigator , but useless in the day. So I have the F3 ordered so my question is --- Which Would You Buy?

Just FYI

Like the ability to put in vertical mode. Just need to figure out if there is a way to convert the existing BRP mount. Of course if you go with a RAM mount, would be easy.

Looks nice. Too bad they are so expensive.

The GPS holder can be attached to the BRP mount, however, even though it looks like the existing 665 holder, it won't fit.
So............if you had your 665 transferred to your 2014 RTS in timeless black, and you want to upgrade to the new GPS, it's not a simple plug and play.
It requires moving the existing holder and connector and reinstalling the new one.
In that case, I'm not sure it's worth upgrading.

The Zumo 590 is the OEM GPS for the 2015 RT-Ltd. According to my dealer's parts man they were on back order to be released 12/19. The 590 was part of my OTD deal on my '14 RT-S; will have it installed at upcoming 3K service.

Three of my riding buddies have the new unit and love it. I'm not there yet because it doesn't support XM. The electronics seem to be improved over the 665. You may notice it in the Bluetooth connectivity. Finally, the new unit is much easier to navigate through with its improved GUI (Graphic User Interface). I'll have one by spring!

Cradle Swap

The 2015 RT Limited does come with the new Garmin Zumo 590. The Garmin Zumo 660 no longer comes with the RT Limited
All you would have to do is remove the Garmin Zumo 660 cradle mount and install the new Zumo 590 mount. The same BRP Spyder RT handlebar mount can still be used.
