New for 2013- Pics that tell all

Thanks Lamont

Nice posts. I was talking to my dealer yesterday while ordering the new 2013 RT Limited. From your posts, I knew more about the new RT than he did. Can't wait to ride the new one.

Yeah, he's gaining on me at a rapid pace, but my mileage still is lots higher than my count. We've got to get him a permission slip from home to attend some Spyder events...LOL.
I don't think he rides much, I know of only one time he has ridden, (I have his twisted frame) another time he came in her jeep. The NY group has a ride this weekend on Sat & Sun, but no Bob, and the ride will be less than 5 miles from his house if the weather holds. What gives Bob. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: To busy posting.

The RS pilots out there will have to take up the reins on this one...
But here's my best guess! :opps:
Since there's been a complete change in the engine and controls; probably nothing that hooks to those components will swap over... :gaah:
Frame and suspension changes :gaah:
Brakes? :dontknow: If you also change to the larger wheels...

None of this would be a question, if the tupperwear looked different. The Spyder will soon be in official Gen 2 production, so too many things will be incompatible with the existing Gen 1s. That's how these things work. I'm kinda glad they didn't fully abandon the body style, so we can at least benefit from a few bolt ons.

For me, when and if I can ever afford to upgrade the susspension, it will have to be good enough. It may not end up being as good as the 2013s, but there again, it's paid for and has less than 3K on it. The coolness factor will still lie on the ability to get out and ride in the open. If I can't do the twisties at a 100mph, that's probably fine, cuz the boss would be non-stop wrapping on my helmet and screaming slow down anyway. :lecturef_smilie:

Ron, My bike'll be in the shop getting the Throttle Position Sensor issue squared away... :gaah:
I remember with fondness riding with you guys in May.
Last November's meeting in Roscoe was also a TON of fun, but my time schedule just isn't as open as I'd like.
I'm taking the bike in for these issues now so that hopefully I'll still have some riding season left for its return...

What I want to know is if you have a higher post count than odometer reading? You blew by me in two years.

Same thing with a few guys on another forum I belong to. My question to Bob is just what did you do with all that free time before spyderlovers.com? Then maybe we don't really want to know.;)

I remember that now, we ate at Cha-Cha's. Doing a similar run on Sunday. Looks like the weather will hold. Kerhonkson-45/55-county rt7-52-209-55-55a-peekamoose-28a-28 starting Barringers at 9 AM.

Hey Lamont thanks for the update...it only took Harley 85 years to adjust the vibration on their bikes...BRP 6 years and they figured it out wow. It is truly amazing what the engineers at BRP are doing already with the Spyder. Just as an example they didn't put a huge motor in the Chevy Camaro to start just a small 350, now years later you see way bigger power some as high as 600hp. They have proven that the frame and handling and brakes can handle a motor of that size, I think this is what Brp is doing with the new frame. They have a frame(new design) they have the breaking and now the new front end. In time lets hope for a bit more power....one can dream cant he:yes::yes:

BRP is using a redesigned frame in the 2013 models, so they can fit a new 1,300CC engine in 2014!!!

Ron,
MAKE SURE that you don't get up here much before about 11:30 am. The Parade is gonna have the Main Street shut down from 8:30 until they kid all the kids up to the Fairgrounds...
Here's to hoping that the weather holds for you guys!
Have a safe ride!

We will not be coming into town, be on 55a and making a right on peekamoose, unless you want to come with us. If you do PM me.. I have messed this thread enough.

I have to say that as someone who is holding on to their GS until the BEST warranty is gone and then some, I am pretty stoked by what I see here.

Redesign of the chassis is interesting, and to me it implies that it readies them for some other phased in changes in the next two model years...Maybe more power? Selectable VSS? I'm in.

I'd say BRP has finally evolved the Spyder versus refined as they have been doing previously. Regardless of what I say about more power and selectable mode VSS... I'd love to be riding an ST as soon as they start shipping.

Thanks Lamont. * and BRP!

I'd be surprised if any powerplant changes occurred in the next two years. I expect BRPs sights are set a bit farther down the road. I do suspect that they have envisioned the possibility, however. The revised chassis does seem to be capable of supporting a wider variety of engines. I like the idea of a selectable VSS, although there is less reason for it than with a dual-sport two-wheeler. Having it revert to "normal" when the ignition was off would avoid inadvertent problems when they were unwanted or unsafe...like during bad weather, forcing the rider to select the more agressive settings. Interesting to ponder.

I heartily agree about "evolved vs. refined". This is truly a second generation. Well said, my friend!

This "Next Gen" talk is how my wife and I look at it as well. However my questions are more than ever. I know that any time you move mounts and change frames that "All" of the components you mount to it change. Wiring, routing of any pipes, how the body attaches to the frame and so on. I also know the Center of Gravity shifts as the frame is tweaked.

Every small change has a domino effect to the rest of the bike. This one frame change has caused a LOT of work and refinement throughout...

All I am saying is this. I agree with this being the next gen. And with that comes a new learning curve for the Techs and aftermarket supporters to our rides.
