New F3 bars on my RT - what a difference!

Just got my F3 bars that have been on order for more than a month. Got them on with no issues, maybe 20 minutes.

Wow, what a difference in handling and feel. I only took it for a short ride, but I like it.

I mostly got them because when I have low bars on a 2-wheeler and now on this, it always hurts my back between the shoulder blades. I put 14" apes on my last Harley and all pain went away.

We'll see how it goes on a longer ride. Hopefully soon.

I don't know if I could put a 2" extension on it cable wise. Probably not.

At least now, when I crank the handlebar, it doesn't hit my leg.

Tom

Me too! Had a 19 RTL but swapped for a 21. The 21 stock bars caused nearly immediate shoulder/upper back pain on the drive home from the dealer. Got stock F3 bars on eBay for $105.

I should have checked out ebay when mine didn't ship, although the status was processing from the first week, just nothing happened and then they were here.

Thanks for the reminder.

Are all of the wiring and control connections long enough and are they the same width and what is the height differences. If I went to a dealer and got on a F3 would I be able to tell the differents or is the set up so different from the RTL and the F3 that you could not tell. 2020 RTL. THANKS

I noticed the upper back/shoulder blade pain on the 5 hour ride home on my 2020 RTL. I debated between the F3 handlebar and the riser from Lamonster. I bought the riser thinking it would be an easier install. Lamont has a how to video and it was a fairly simple job. It made an immediate improvement on my back pain.

Can anyone tell me the height difference between the stock F3 bars and the short reach bars?
Thanks, Bob

Can i ask how tall are you guys because i am thinking about the swap but i maynot need it. i am a tall gent 6.6...

Good to know that is possible Quickdraw. I may have to do both.

BTW, I'm 5'10", but sit pretty high in the saddle. I usually have to buy a new windshield with every motorcycle I buy due to awful buffeting. I was really surprised how good this stock shield was. Up or down, no buffeting and I could see over when down. Perfect.

It was very easy to replace the bars. Two screws on each side and the controls are off. 4 screws in the center. No issues at all with wire length. I just tugged a little bit out on the harness in the fairing and some wire came out.

I don't know the exact measurements of the F3 bars on an F3 vs how they feel on the RT, but I recently drove an F3 before I got the bars and had a pretty good idea that is what I wanted on the RT. Plus, it was the highest I could go I believe. I think it helps not feel like you are sitting on a ATV.

I haven't compared width, but I think it is about the same as stock, but higher. There is some latitude in angle also. If you go to too far up, then then handgrips are angled upwards. I put it in the middle and will adjust when testing, but so far so good.

I also noticed that now I can adjust my backrest a little further back. Haven't done that yet. Should make it all more comfortable.

I do like that angle Jetfixer. I wonder about the height compared to the stock F3 bars.

Tom

They are about the same. We have a 21 F3L that we switched to short reach bars. I tried the stock bars on my RT but didn't like the angle, so went with the Attitude bar.
