• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New DPS failure and resolution

As I metioned here, my new DPS started failing intermittently while on a roadtrip. Since the symptoms were identical to a lengthy problem I had with my original DPS, I knew to check my battery connections before taking it to the dealer.

Sure enough, my positive battery cable was loose. After tightening it down I took it to a nearby empty parking lot and tossed it around for a bit. That seemed to do the trick.

I suspect the DPS needs a lot of current and is very sensitive to bad connections.

It can spike upwards around 60-70 amps from what i have seen.....Loose license light connections can cause limp mode...lol.

The DPS is the largest single consumer of electrical energy on the Spyder, short of the starter motor. It also runs far more often than the starter motor. Good find! Anybody experience intermittent DPS problems should take a look at the battery first...perhaps even having a load test done.
