We Just Bought A Camper

We were about to buy a Lees-ure Light Excel when I ran across a 1988 Combi-Camp which is very similar to the Lees-ure Light and being used, was much cheaper. I like the clamshell design which can be set up very quickly even in “heels and a dress”!

Here is our camper, behind the previous owner’s trike:

I was in Tampa a couple of weeks ago at the RV Supershow, and I noticed this camper.

The video's really don't show how it unfolds except for about a second at around 12 seconds in.
They had the tent on a fold-able floor that weighs about 100 pounds.
I believe the measurements were 54" wide by 8' long open and 4'long closed.
It opened by grabbing the edge and pulling it over. That was it.
He wanted $375 for the tents might have been able to get a better deal.
Would have to build or modify a harbor freight trailer. Total weight around 250-275 pounds and total price around $500.00
Still seriously thinking about it
I wish they had better videos of it opening.

I will second this one. I have a few friends with these trailers and they have proved to be durable/reliable and are very easy to setup.

Not a lot of storage

That is cool! But what storage does it have in trailer mode if any?

Things can be stored on top of the bed, usually folks use the low profile Rubbermaid type containers, such as the kind that slides under a home bed. On my model there is a storage compartment beneath the bed that sticks down under the center of the trailer. Also there is the storage compartment on the tongue and someone added two little compartments behind the wheels that can hold leveling blocks and such. The roof rack on the top of the trailer can be used for items that aren't too heavy such as lawn chairs and such and there is a cover that can go over it. And don't forget the ice chest.

It is not a good idea to put too much in the trailer unless you are hauling Styrofoam or it will quickly get too heavy. From what I hear you don't want to exceed the 40 lb. weight limit on the hitch, although some imply they have exceeded the 400 lb. overall weight limit.

but we will be back next Feb. for about 3 weeks.
Now on to the camper.... we have pulled a variety of camper type trailers, all pulled with
one or more of the 5 GoldWing's we have had, The best one for usefulness was a pop up tent
trailer something like the larger ones pulled by cars & trucks. Ours worked well it was small
and easy to tow and it unfolded to make a plenty large bed and a dressing area you can stand up in
to get dressed, it also had a camp stove area out side and space for food and water and such.
I think we paid around $4200 for it, google and look around for tent treailers

I'm thinking of getting a camper to pull with the Spyder.
I'm not worrying about brand as much as I'm worrying about functionality.
For those of you that have or had one, which features do you think are important and which don't matter.

Dave, sorry we couldn't get together, but X-mas is hell for me. I had 7 of my kids here with spouses, grand-kids, and their in-laws. around 30 people for over a week. It was all I could do to not kill somebody.
I would definitely like to get together when you come down in February.

It weighs 150 pounds and the tent with floor weighs around 130. total weight before modification and camping stuff is about 300 pounds.
Leaves me around 100 pounds for supplies.
I think I might do this.

If I would have known about those tents when I made my "Tent on a Trailer" I certainly would have taken a hard look at using one.

Before you add any options to the trailer or put anything in it you are 90 lbs over the total weight limit and 2.25 times over the Spyder's 40 lb hitch weight limit.
