• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New BRP Touring Windshield coming in spring - see pictures

Brp ws vs F1 ws

BRP is a little johnny come lately w/their ws.The after market has taken care of the lack of products Brp should've been offering. That ws looks like a small sail on the front of the spyder. It is too big.The threads I've read concerning the fit of the F1 ws or lack there of are abit over blown(my opinion). My F1 ws fit the 1st time. The mods I made to it were to fit my riding style and Marcel helped to make the ws fully functional.Maybe some of the riders don't understand the functionality of the ws laminar lip.It works fine for me and is the best ws I've ever used. All of the offerings Brp had for ws were poor at best .Too short,Not very stylish and not too many choices. The after market capitalized and won.I don't see too many ws like the BRP being sold unless your want to totally block the wind in that case you may as well drive a car.Isn't it about getting into the wind and not blocking it?NMN,KEWL andF1 rock! The after market has got your back spyder rider.:chat:

Glad you're happy with your F1, but I really fail to see how in the world any of those F1 units could be considered more stylish than the standard BRP or their current touring shield.

I personally love the looks of the current BRP touring unit (not the big new shark fin).

I use the CalSci if I'm gonna be doing a lot of hwy riding, the rest of the time the BRP touring is on the Spyder.

That's bigger than the windshield on my Toyota! I'd sure like to see someone come up with something in-between, that actually works.

I like the look of that windshield. I'll be the first one to get it in the spring. I took a cruise down to Las Vegas on Saturday and I don't want full wind blast, even with my full face helmet on.I just use the standard WS now. It doesnt look like the regular BRP touring ws is much different than I have now. But it is still a great ride even with the wind blast and heat :2thumbs:

A few random thoughts...

Wind blast and heat is OK, but wind blast and cold or rain are harder to accept. If you ride a lot, or a long distance, you may want something more than stock affords. In that case you will have to compromise styling, especially if you want to keep your hands warmer.

It is going to be difficult, if not impossible, to come up with a windshield that cuts the wind and is not the size of a house. Blame this partly on geometry. The Spyder windshield begins where the axle of the front wheel is located. Compare to a motorcycle where the windshield begins near the rear of the front tire line. This far forward would seem to require a smaller windshield to do the job, but wind curls around a windshield instead of fanning out in a nice cone. As a result, you need more windshield the further forward you place it. The air coming around the cowling and off the trunk doesn't help here. The aerodynamics of a Spyder are very different.

We all seem to have very strong likes and dislikes regarding this subject. We will never all agree, any more than we will on the best Spyder color or the best exhaust. That's what makes the world go 'round, and what drives the aftermarket. There is a place of all these products. Forget the boasts, forget the flames, and just pick what you like. It is strictly a personal decision, like the color of your shirt.

OK, I broke up the soapbox, and will use it for firewood. Thanks for listening.

:agree: Very eloquent, Scotty. Truer words never spoken.

Here's my take on windshields (or nearly anything else)- form follows function.

In other words, first make it work, then make it pretty.

Sometimes the two never meet & you have to decide if you want "works" or if you want "pretty".

Kinda like the Lamonster cool ram air saga. First it worked, then it worked & was pretty. :)
