• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. New battery heading my way

Battery Mart--- How to connect Positive Terminal

Can someone give me a hint on how they installed the pc680 on their Spyder? I can't seem to get the positive terminal connected... the angle of the cable just doesn't want to fit to this battery. Any help/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I didn't take pics... sorry. But you're right... it is a bugger. If I recall correctly, it just takes a little work to "stretch" the cables to the point of installation.

I was not able to stretch mine all the way so I went to the local harley dealer and the parts guys gave me an L style bracket that is often used on their bikes. I just replaced mine a few weeks ago and went with a new brand, so I can't share any photos.

Lamonster,

Can you start a section on the website that just has parts on it?

For example...one thread might be batteries..and you list the options...make it a closed thread so everyone can't just write stuff in there...you would put on what is validated to work...of course, we'd be your eyes and ears...

We'd have our own Spyderlovers parts section...this is good when we're all out of warranty and/or if we want to upgrade something...

For example, if my battery lasts another 1.5 years and then I need a new one, I certainly won't remember this thread...but if there's a section on parts with a topic of 'batteries', then finding information would be easier....

You may have a loose connection on the battery. A loose connection will prevent the battery from getting a full charge. Ride 'em safely! Ken krb1945

Just ordered 2 pc680's

Came across this battery on another forum. It is very small. Not sure how to post a pic from their web site so here is the web site info. ballisticparts.com

Since this battery is much smaller than a stock :spyder2:battery maybe extra space could be used for more performance accessories (ie Juice box)
just an idea.:D

They arrived yesterday

I received two of the pc680's yesterday. Happy to say they arrive with a 100% charge, 12.84V in one and 12.85 in the other, as stated in their ad. Hope to get them installed in a few days. Please ride 'em safely! Ken krb1945

350 Dollars, Is that the price per dozen?

I never have liked the stock battery. I think they will cover it up to 6 months but I rather put a good one in it and forget about it. :doorag:

Lamont, did you get the SAE terminals and does it work with the battery tender. I know Scotty here said it's wet vs. gel...not sure that matters too much?

SpyderRT and RS takes a 4 cell battery $135.99. You should not need a dozen of them unless you are powering a lot of lights:roflblack:. Like I said just a thought:popcorn:

Ballistic Batteries just lowered the 12 cell to 189.99, Plus a 3 year warranty

Deltran battery tender used on pc680

Old habits are slow to die... I have always trickled a new battery overnight before installing. So I used the Deltran battery tender on the two pc680s I received and the charge leveled out at 13.3 volts. After sitting in a 40 degree garage with no load for 24 hours they seem to have settled at 13.10 volts. The battery tender seemed to work on these batteries. I do not know if it will work on them if the charge level is at a lower level.

They came from the dealer with what is a full charge at 12.84 & 12.85 volts. Ken krb1945

Odyssey PC680 Battery

Got home and the battery on my Spyder was dead again :sour: so I went ahead and ordered a battery I know will last a good long time. I've used this battery on my Boss Hoss and I'm sure it will work fine on my Spyder too.

[h=1]Question regarding the Odyssey PC680 Battery, it says that the CCA on them is only 220, isn’t that less than the stock battery which is 350 CCA? The reason I am asking is because I am currently shopping for a battery for my 08 RS and was wondering if you still think it’s a good choice. Thank you so much [/h]

When I look at the specs for this battery it says it is a Dry cell and not a wet cell. Am I looking at something wrong. Yes, I know there is some moisture in a Dry Cell, but it is not the same as a wet cell.

Remember the problems many people were having with those original batteries? I thought someone said that the batteries BRP sent with many of the early Spyders were made for upright mounting only per the battery manufacturer and the Spyders battery mount is on its side. A number of owners, my wife and I included, noticed battery acid leaking a bit. Some people got their batteries replaced from BRP but others didn't. Our batteries quit dripping and the dealer didn't do anything for us as far as exchanging them or anything. I would not be surprised that our batteries are a little low on battery acid and probably prone to premature failure. :( That being said, we haven't had any problems starting our Spyders and its been in the 30s the past few days. We've had our Spyders since March and have over 10,000 miles on each of them.

i guess i'm lucky i have had my 08 rs for over 4 years and 65k miles. no battery problems at all. i ride it at least 4 times per week and its garage kept.

it will probably fail tomorrow
