• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New 3/4" helmet

Okay, I have had this thing about a three days now and have to say I like it. It was a sort of a matte finish not glossy as I had expected but the color is pretty close to the red my Spyder is. The first thing that went was the pads on the upper straps, just too hot for those. I tightened down the strap a bit and it is really a great fit. The second thing I noticed was a rattling sound created by the vent levers buffeting in the wind. A little fuzzy Velcro under those and those quieted down. The quick release, ratchet strap release is great.
This is a good summer helmet. It is well vented and the lining is cool, it seems to wick away the moisture. It was 102º today and it worked swell.
The visor is great it is distortion free and easy to operate. I had no trouble with my sun or regular glasses I could put the helmet on with the glasses already on or stick them in the front after I had the helmet buckled in place. I ware prescription glasses and sunglasses so this is a real +.
All in all this is a great helmet. And I am really glad I got one.
Thanks Lamont for the turn-on.

Mike

Take it by an autobody shop or a friend that does autobody paint and see what it would cost to get it shot with a coat of clear gloss. That will give it a gloss look, deepen and brighten the colors while protecting the paint.

New Helmet

I liked the look of the Blade, but made an inquiry of one of the sellers and was told there are no ear pockets for a communication system. I decided to give this AFX FX-42A "Pilot" model a try. I liked the helicopter pilot look of it, so I ordered one through eBay. It is a very good price (around $53.00 U.S. plus shipping). After conversion to Canadian dollars, it cost me just over $90.00 shipping included. Of course, I will have to pay tax on top of that, so it should come in at around $100 all in. Once I get it, I will post a review. It is coming from western Michigan to southern Ontario, about five hours away, so it will probably take weeks to get here because of that pesky border. :D

Looks nice.

I just picked up a Scorpion EXO 900 transformer helmet today. It is a flip face but also converts to a 3/4 helmet in about 10 seconds. Also has a built in sunshield that retracts up inside the helmet. Nice helmet.

Bruce, you should have paid the $53 and had it sent to us. We could have met you at the border and it could have just been an extra helmet in the trunk. Remember that for future purchases. We are only an hour from Port Huron/Sarnia and I think the same is true for you. Of course I suppose by the time you add gas expense for both of us, it isn't much of a savings but hey it's another reason to ride and see one another.

Thanks Deb! I will keep that in mind in future. The only complication here is that I bought it on eBay and paid for it using PayPal. I don't think that system allows it to be sent to an address other than the confirmed shipping address of the buyer. I could be wrong about that though.
Even if it didn't result in a savings, it is always great to see you and Brian.

Cheers,

Bruce
