• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. New 2014 RT SE6 with maintenance issues. Could use some advise.

You can buy rubber chair leg covers. The kind that go over chair feet. Paint them black, clear coat them. Install. They look great. There is no manual that I know of for the adjustable bars. Experiment. Easy to adjust. They all bang into reverse. :banghead: You can lessen the bang by shifting into first, then go into reverse. Tom :trike:

:dontknow: I'm either very lucky; or VERY unbalanced...
(Speaking strictly about tires right now... :D)
No weights on either wheel.

It was the same with my 2010 also

I've seen no indications of cupping on the tires either!

That's pretty amazing. Do you know if your dealer balances the wheels before delivery?

The fuel pump noise is a known problem. Mine was replaced for no charge.

The RT is at the dealership now. The list is long. The service rider just smiled when I told him about the 17 5g weights on the one front.
I had the whine at the top of my list for them. I'll now find out if the extra bucks at time of buy was worth it.

Back from dealership

I want to say first that I get a kick out of this machine and I am very happy with it. I took my Vulcan for a ride the other day and almost fell over coming to a stop at my gate on the way out. The balance just isn't there anymore so the Spyder will be keeping me in the saddle for many years to come.:ohyea:

Took 'Miss Pearl' to the dealership on Wednesday afternoon for a scheduled Thursday morning 0830 appointment. At about 3:30pm Thursday I called to find out status. "They just started about 15 minutes ago, I'll call when I hear from the mechanic" said the service writer. Not exactly what I wanted to hear but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
On Friday they call and parts are on order and will be at least a week. Will replace the tire but they didn't hear whine. :gaah:They do not provide a replacement and 'Miss Pearl' would sit outside. I want my bike back so she can be in my garage and I will return when parts will be in. Not long after they call and they have the parts and she may be ready that evening. :hun:
I arrive Saturday morning and we go through the list.
1)Fuel pump whine. Not fixed :banghead: The service writer said something about only doing a 4 mile test drive and bringing back in.
2)R front tire with 17 5gram weights. Replaced :thumbup: The ride back had less handlebar vibration.
3)Rear shock system will not maintain air. They tested to #40lbs and sprayed with soapy water and they say no leaks. I pull out my air gauge and already it is down to #30 :lecturef_smilie: :banghead: (This is an RT so I will just add the BRP air pump. Maybe I can get a discounted price somewhere)

4) Cargo door on right side open while at speed. They adjusted the cables and all cargo doors work excellent.:thumbup:
5) One of the two Grommets missing for R side panel. Replaced he thinks.(I'll find out for sure the next time I take that panel off.)
6) Corrosion underside. That is not corrosion. :roflblack: Maybe it is just excess thread locker (I'll have someone else take a look.)
7) Tie wrap missing on air vent rubber connection. Not fixed. :gaah: (I'll do it myself the next time I take off that panel)
8) Numerous bolts missing washers. Don't know
9) No unusual noises. :roflblack: They only do a 4 mile test drive. Even after all the tightening here and there I still hear not only the whine but (I don't know) a noise that is "just not right". Maybe it is just a 'Spyder' noise.

The service was all under warranty and did not cost me out of pocket so that was good. I never did get a chance to talk to a mechanic, just the service writer.

When I got home, I checked on BRP website and checked the vin to see if any open service bulletins or recalls on 'Miss Pearl'. She is clear. Thanks BRP for providing owners with that service.

I will be in Tuscon Dec 6th to have 'Miss Pearl' get a laser alignment and other goodies so there will be an opportunity for experienced Spyder riders to listen to and ride 'Miss Pearl' and then I will know if there is a fuel pump whine and a strange noise coming from somewhere (like the air box rattling against something) or I need to get better ear plugs. :roflblack:

I have provided the above so you can make up your own mind about RideNow Chandler.

Last week, Parts told me the touch up paint and adjustable handlebar tool ordered at purchase were still on backorder. This week they can't find me on their computer.:banghead:

Received confirmation from BRP this week about the factory warranty and BEST extended warranty. Less than two months.

What a contrast with what my service manager said. I told him I like to do my own maintenance and he said to come into the shop when they do the first service and he will demonstrate how to do the routine stuff like changing oil. He also said I was welcome to come in the shop and watch them do any service work needed. He seemed very willing to work with me if problems arise. I hope he was sincere.

:gaah::gaah::gaah:....The system is not supposed to LEAK...period ....If it does ,it should be re-placed under WARRANTY....PERIOD ......No excuses No BS.....Tell them if they can't find it then just re-place the entire system ............It's either the Hose or the Bag .........I think they are trying to test it on the Spyder and I think it's impossible to detect a leak because you can't see the entire BAG while it's mounted. It's more costly to remove and test than it is to just LIE to the CUSTOMER ...........I AM NOT FOND OF DEALERS.............Mike

I got a call from the service manager at Ridenow after two weeks. I got the impression he was more concerned about any feedback to BRP. Yes, your dealer could give some lessons.

My 2014 base RT has never "banged" into or out of reverse. That said, I always back into the garage, and warm the bike a bit before ever using reverse.

There are connectors on my bike to connect the silly lights on the fenders of the "up market" models - those fenders were one of my motivators for NOT buying an "upscale" model.

Over 1600 miles on 'Miss Pearl' now and the clunking into gear is not a regular occurance. There are times when I have to check the screen to know if it is in gear. There have also been times when shifting into reverse that the engine has died. Starts back up easily though. Oil is where it should be. It is what it is. There is the noise when turning on the key. Much worse than the wifes Limited. Yes the fuel pump. The whine after the start is sometimes minimal. Ann rode her when they were in Tuscon and did not think it was too bad, yet. The other sounds that I hear appear to just be Spyder related although I still think it has something to do with the air box and/or all the tupperware.
I prefer the fender of the base model and with the Led lights they really stand out. I am very happy with the purchase just not the dealership but thats another story. Not having to be concerned about mine or the wifes balance and either dumping has made riding so much more enjoyable, especially for her. And you all know that a happy spouse makes for a very happy home.
I am blessed with a partner who enjoys the sport and understands. We are going out again this afternoon. Do not care where, just to ride and enjoy the sunshine.
