• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Never Wash Your Spyder!!!

I use Honda clean on my bikes .. and a good clean microfiber cloth . ANd then if i need to get like tires or rims i use a different cloth and bucket .

washing a spyder?? people do that?

I have had to wash mine once and it jacked up the brake senor which sucked.
You even got a prize for the dirtyest didn't you??? I have to admit Seth you REALLY SHOULD GIVE THE POOR THING A BATH ONCE IN AWHILE!!! All that dirt has GOT to be slowing you down!!

To me, washing a bike is kinda like hosing out the inside of your car!!!!
There are too many connectors and electronics these days to risk it.
BUT..I'm not a wet weather rider and usually wipe my machines down after a ride or before the next one.
never had a problem and my machines are always sparkling.
Water and electronics (especially handlebars) are just a no-no!!
If I did get any suss parts wet i think I'd be using a hair dryer(warm) to clear out any moisture.
cheers

Wet Spyder

The last time we were caught in a downpour, not riding, upon startup it acted as if it was running on one cylinder until I shut it off and started it again. This has never happened while in a downpour while underway.

I've washed my spyder more times than I have fingers, toes and what ever other appendages I have on my body. Admittedly I don't do pressure washing, but I do use a pistol grip sprayer on a normal garden hose.

I've never had any problems.

Chris

:agree: same activities , no bad results..

I use a garden hose, car wash soap, and wash mitt. After washing the bike(avoiding the handlebars and dash), I use an Armorall wipe to detail these areas. No problems so far.
Just my experience.

If you are real nervous about washing your Spyder, just start it up before you wash it and let it run. Wash all you want and your spyder will think its raining.:hun::hun::hun:

Just a thought.:dontknow:

Now that's a real good idea.

Fooling the computers. :yikes:

Do you think we can get away with it and not be retaliated against by their other "big-brothers"? :roflblack:

I use a cleaning wax on my spyder and it makes the thing shine. It works really good at getting bugs off of items also. The washing wax is called FW1. I know you can order it online but I got mine at a truck stop when the guys was doing a demonstration on the truck. I really like it and I really recommend it. You can use it on any surface pretty much.

I'm sorry if I've caused some confusion, but when I washed my RT this morning, it was not at a carwash using a high pressure hose (I would never do something that idiotic)....it was in my driveway using an ordinary garden hose with a nozzle that lets you select the different kinds of sprays. So the RT didn't get any wetter than normal. However when I picked it up a short while ago, Brent pointed out the two primary areas to avoid (pictures attached). He advised covering these modules with plastic bags when washing (even with an ordinary garden hose) and to also avoid the dashboard and the switches area (parking brake, frunk release, etc.). So, ladies and gentlemen, feel free to wash your Spyders - - just be careful!!!

Why would you wash those areas anyway? I've only washed my GS once or twice in the 3 years I've had it..I usually just use quick detailer to clean it as the bike never gets 'that' dirty. Regardless, all parts of a bike should be water resistant enough to avoid issues such as the one you had, especially since you just used a garden hose. Nobody should be using a pressure washer on a bike, IMHO...no need for that...overkill comes to mind!

Last year I rode 1.5 hours in HEAVY thunderstorms with blankets of water coming down...the bike held up just fine...no issues...I, on the other hand, poured water out of my boots when I got home! :doorag:
