• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Negativity

Have been thinking about this for awhile and have put off posting. I was hoping it was just my perception, and maybe it is.

Seems like posts and threads have been tending towards the negative here lately. People seem to be generally edgy and easily offended.

Maybe it is the economy or the general state of the world around us. I know times are tough. Listen to the news for an hour and you're ready to give up sometimes.

Now I'm not saying some posts are not on the offensive side. Some are. But they are rare and unintended (IMO).

I am not talking about my posts or any posts in particular. And I am not talking about legitimate issues like the Spyder fires, steering recalls, etc. These are not fun but important and should be discussed freely here.

But I've seen quite a few take offence when it was obvious no offence was intended and (to tell the truth) I could not see any reason to be offended.

SpyderLovers.com is a great place. It has always been a very positive place to come and be with "Family".

We are all different with different experience and abilities. That's one of the great things about this forum. We can pool our knowledge and come out way ahead in the deal.

No one is obligated to agree with anyone else's opinion. It's all on the plate and each can take what he (or she) wants and leave the rest.

We should be able to speak what is on our mind with respect and consideration but without having to walk on egg shells.

For my 2 cents, I'm going to try a bit harder to be a good member. If anything I post offends anyone just PM me rather than post your dissatisfaction. I will do whatever it takes to work it out.

This is a GREAT Bunch of People. I have yet to meet a single SpyderLover that I don't like, much less can't get along with.

I hope your experience with members is the same.

Thank you for listening....

agree

:agree: with ron. And just in case i ever did offend anybody and i don't know if i did. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY I'AM SORRY.

:agree: And like I said before, even if we have gripes w/ one another from time to time, if anyone has probs w/ his or her :spyder:then I betchya no matter what we'd all jump in to help.

I'll try to be on my best behavior. I know I have a sick sense of humor but I'll curb it here.

And as readers, we shouldn't be so thin-skinned that we miss joshing humour and percieve only unintended insult.

Ron, you took the words right out of my mouth! I don't usually post on anything that is offensive or negative as I know it will be taken wrong. I'm not new at this and have been taken wrong in the past on club forums when I was the Pres. of a National car club. Sometimes it just doesn't make any difference what you say, it can be taken wrong by someone.

I just keep my post limited to technical ideas or opinions so that I can either help or give another process that can be tried.

With exception of the oil post I made lately (where I got a tiny bit sarcastic) and this post I will try to stay away from any negative stuff.

Here's an opinion: "Folks, It doesn't matter what you buy there will be bugs in the first few years so if you don't want to work with the bugs this machine may not be for you!"

I'm going to try different modifications anyway so I look at the Spyder as a new challenge for perfection.

Good points...I'll just add that not every person in a large group, not to mention over 1000 or 2000, is going to get along and/or like each other...period.

I think the age of political correctness is ending (so I hope)...

I think it's best when we are who we are and we don't try to appease everyone...better if we don't post if we don't like what we see...I know I'm guilty of that and I'll try to just distance myself from the strange threads we see here at times!

Thanks for the thought-provoking post...you are a good man and it's obvious you're like the Lamonster!

Did I miss something?:dontknow: I suppose that some comments could be perceived as negative to someone (and not intended to be). We all have opinions based on our backgrounds, Education, and experience and that is why this is a good forum. We don't have to agree, but all opinions are valuable in a free forum and everyone should be able to express an opinion without offending someone with a different opinion. We soon learn from reading who's opinions we choose to believe; and even that we would never totally agree on.nojoke IMHO:D

Well said....

folks. Just wait until I produce this 6 cylinder shaft drive version... I will guarntee there will only be 9 hundred and 99 bugs to work out. Just think 40,000 plus comedians out of work here in Florida and I'm making jokes.

I like tinkering and working on these spyders so much I just put a third one in my toy collection. A nice shiny black one!

I agree

I agree with you guys on taking things too seriously. ON ANOTHER NOTE I have had my Spyder for the past four months and not one regret, only problem was sticking gears (SE5) and had the steering recall done. Because of this forum I was alerted on the sticking problem and the steering recall. Had all done and Spyder runs great (Hope I don't jinx it ) but it has been nothing but what I expected a great machine for me to have a great time with. I ride mine usually all weekend and sometimes on weekdays. I have close to 2500 miles and things are looking:2thumbs:

As for the forum I've got the teflon skin coating nothing sticks and I move on to a better place and keep a  attitude and things are going good.

Have a good Spyder Day

Well chosen words, Ron, and thought provoking at that. I have let a couple of people push my buttons here lately, and posted in haste in response. I should not have done that. Easier to just put the person on my "ignore" list, I found. If you can try to do better, I can try to do better. I came to this forum because the people were good, and positive. I will do my best to keep it that way for others. If I get out of hand, somebody slap me......or send me a PM and tell me to cool it, please.

WELL! Arn't you a bunch of oppionated bunch of sob's. Who the hell died and made you king. I'll take offense to anything I want. Thankyou very much. :ohyea::ohyea::popcorn::popcorn:

Well said Ron. Couldn't agree more. Don't sweat the petty stuff. Pet the sweaty stuff.:2thumbs:

I've been a bit edgy lately also---will work on that.

Well said Ron.

With this many folks we are bound to have disagreements- just have to keep them in check.

A wise man once told me--- if 2 people agree all the time--- you don't need one of the people.

Peace.

I think this pretty well tells us what Ron was talking about. Thank you for so strongly making such a good point about yourself.

Ron,

I watched a movie last night and you remind me of one of the main characters. The name of the movie was Apaloosa. There were 2 sheriffs as the main characters; one always came up with the right word/s to say. The other reminded me of Lamonster; that sheriff rode herd over the situation. It was a good 'western' flick.

Don't change a thing

I've been a member for a few months now and being one of a very few Spyder riders in Tasmania this site is one of the few places I can go to talk with other riders. I like to come home from work and grab a beer, sit down in front of my PC and see whats been happening around the Spyder world.
To be honest I think some of the "tit for tat" posts can make for some interesting reading. Lamont has his finger on the pulse and if anything gets out of hand he sorts it out pretty quick smart. Remember guys and gals, "Stick and stones". I think we should always think twice before we post. I know I have started to comment a few time and then thought, no I'll let that one go. But we shouldn't be afraid to make a comment for fear we might upset one or two members. Remember "you cant please all of the people all of the time" Just be honest and fair and stay away from the personal comments.
