• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hello all,

I’m in the finale negotiations with a locale Knoxville dealer on a 2011 Limited. We are looking at $32K even OTD, this would include a CB radio with 2 headsets installed, BEST warranty, plus all taxes and fees. FYI in Tenn sales tax is 9.25%, ouch. I have searched within a two hundred and fifty mile radius and I can only find 3 Limited's, two in Nashville and the one here and this seems to be as good as it gets. What do you think?

If it is Alcoa Good Times, don't walk away....RUN!!! :yikes:

Did you check with Len at Cowtown??? It's well worth the short ryde and a much better dealer experience!!!

AGT was nothing but rude and arrogant when we went looking for my wife's Viper Red RT-S, their service prices are about double compared to the other area Spyder dealers....And WILL NOT deal on the price of the Spyders...There is a Brand new RT Limited on e-bay by a Florida Dealer for $23,999...Saw a post on here about it...Can't find the one I saw in Florida, but here is one in TX http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Can-...8886355?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item3f0e1042d3

They wanted $400 to $450 for the 600, 3000, 6000, 9000 mile service, and estimated the 12,000 mile service was going to be around $1,200 to $1,500...Also, while trying to get an estimate on getting a Flash2Pass transmitter installed on the RT-S I called 4 different days and times; never could get through to a human being..It would ALWAYS go to the service voicemail. Even the receptionist couldn't get anyone in service to answer when she paged them for me on my 4th call....

Just TERRIBLE SALES AND SERVICE IMHO

It appears the FL spyder for $24K was sold yesterday.

The one you are dealing with sounds like little to no discounting. You might as well wait a couple months for the new 2012 at those prices.

I smell buyer beware.

I think you could get a 2012 for about the same price as you are being quoted for the 2011. The problem for you right now is that there aren't many RTs available anywhere and you will have to wait a while for the 2012s.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to step back and take a deep breath. As for the 9. 25% sales tax I'm new to Tenn just got here in July and that's the number I was told.

Reassurance

Checked out the 4 sale and WTB listing in the Forum section. I know you posted that you were looking for a 2011 LTD, I don't know if it is still available, but there was a 2010 LTD with trailer listed for less than the 2011 you are looking at in TN. Just a thought, good luck !!!

:yikes:WAY TO HIGH, in my opinion...keep looking...call around...nothing greater than picking up a "good deal" on your Spyder than ryding "her" home...I got my great deal in Illinois and live in WA state...that was May 2010 ....a very happy :spyder2::doorag: ever since. I am right now making payments to myself as have a target date of 2015 model or 200k miles, which every comes first, for my next Ms Spyder....first dealer I will check with is Len at Cowtown....yep Cowtown to WA state...a nice ryde!!!!!
Keep looking...I know the excitement of wanting a Spyder...but there is a better deal out there for you, me thinks....

Canceled the deal on the Limited with AGT and will continue looking. Two of you suggested that I contact Len at Cowtown, is this the one in Missouri or Texas?

Thanks again for the good advice.

Sometimes it's not about the best price but service after the sale. I know the folks at East TN ATV in Elizabethon will take care of you when you need service and if you need any repair work. I've been very happy with these folks and I've watched how they treat their customers and I have no problem recommending them. Ask for Eddie :doorag:

Thanks

Thanks you guys, I enjoy working with you guys and the spydelover members are the best! Keep a standerd deal for all spyderlovers 500 off no frieght or setup fee's and discounts on parts and mods!

Alcoa Good Times Improvements

This is Jill and I work at Alcoa Good Times in the parts department. First I would like to explain the sales tax. Yes, TN sales tax is 9.25% BUT, that is for the first $1600.00, plus the local 0.0275% ----then---it is taxed at about 7% - which can be very confusing - this is true on automobiles or large single articles - TN state law. It may seem crazy but that is what we have to deal with.

Next, we are aware of our short comings in the Service Department. We are replacing the Service Management and working on major improvements with customer service and the Service phone calls. During the summer months we are striving to improve the way we handle all of the different motorcycle, atv, PWC & marine division of our business.

I was so sad to see this post and am so sorry to whom ever has had this experience. If you by chance ever come back, I would enjoy the chance to meet you. We do know there are alot of other places to shop and we do really appreciate our customers.

recommended shipper

i had a very good experience with a Spyder shipper. i would recommend him, just pm me and i will give you details. Shipper must have a wide trailer and know to strap the wheels only! In my case the cost of airfare+gas+hotel made shipping worthwhile. Then figure the first 600 mile maintenance so early?

Good Luck

Breakfast

We enjoyed visiting with the Spyder Riders that came for breakfast this morning. I hope everyone got a belly full and also got to meet our new Service Manager Shawn.

What Lamont says is correct. I seldom shop price. I passed a dealer who was cheaper ($300) to buy from my dealer who has a outstanding service shop. They carry parts, order parts immediately, etc. I forgot what I paid for BR1, but I sure remember the fine service I get. JMHO

I Definitely shopped price over service, even having a bad feeling about the service department. Sure enough when I called the service tech was out for a couple of weeks and then they never returned my call when he returned. Turns out I went back to the first place (that I did not buy my Spyder from) and got great service + they fixed a number of things that should have been done before I picked it up. Even though they are a lot farther away, they have my dollars from now on.
