There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. But not in the Spyder. Went to the base today to get some meds refilled. This trip went south fast. First thing was the automatic doors wouldn't open on any of the entrances to the hospital. Had to wait for someone to come out so we could get in. Then the pharmacy number system quit working. Went to the window and they said the base was closing due to inclement weather. It was sleeting/snowing outside and freezing rain was projected. On top of that they didn't get the script from my doctor :cus: :cus::banghead:. Sooo, we went out to the truck to head to the commissary. Here's where it gets worse. The :cus: truck wouldn't crank. Tried again, nope, starter barely turned. So here we are, sleet coming down, no jumpers. Called some folks, one was about 150 miles out headed to Langley Va. (yeah, that Langley). The other was 180 miles west in Statesville. The other was on the way to get his truck after having the trans repaired. Aaaaaagggghhh. Finally this nice young Staff Sergeant said he had some jumpers at home and would be back in 10 minutes. True to his word he came back, got us going wouldn't accept anything for his troubles. Never went to the commissary. Came straight home and parked the truck. Stayed home the rest of the day because there are folks around here who just don't get it when it comes to winter weather driving :yikes: . The battery is only eight years old. I'm going to complain to GM :roflblack:.

Your day sounds about like my yesterday...
They kind of help you be thankful for the halfway-decent days...
Hang in there!

The cold weather really messes with the automatic doors. I replaced 3 motion sensors today alone. And I replaced 4 motors this week. We have been so busy this week I've got in about 60 hours in so far and I have to work tomorrow now too. By the way I work for stanley and repair all those automatic doors.

Your first mistake was going to an Air Force base in inclement weather you should have gone to an Army post because they don't let bad weather get them down! :roflblack::roflblack:

Just kidding

A letter of appreciation from you to that nice young Staff Sergeant's commander would really be a nice way to say "thank you". When I was a squadron commander I really appreciated receiving such letters on my "troops" and always personally endorsed them, read them at my Commander's Call, and presented the letter to the recipient with my gratitude for representing the USAF in such a grand manner...just saying...

Base? Which one? While its true the Army keeps rolling, the Air Force is usually better equipped! And this comes from a guy who served in both.

However, they are both government run so if u want service - go civilian. They need and count on customers whereas Uncle Sam does not.

weather here

Im always amazed when tourist here ask me what the weather is here today. I like to respond by saying "severe clear". Almost every
day is a carbon copy in the winter, 65 at night and 80 in the day. Now I know why I left Oriental N.C. a year ago.

Tim, more RIDE money.

Spyderfun, I just retired again. We're now on Tri Care only so we use the base pharmacy. Of course with the coming cuts and possible sequestration of the military, we may not have that much longer. Could have kept company insurance for 18 months if I wanted to pay $983.11 a month on COBRA. NO :cus: WAY. The nearest Army base is 70 miles away. They closed early too by the way. Not convenient considering SJAFB is 8 miles away. Forget the Marines, pain in the :cus: to get on Lejeune and Cherry Point. Here in Eastern NC we don't get much snow. Most of what we get is ice, sleet, freezing rain. Which is exactly what we got yesterday. West and north/northeast of us was mostly snow. LEO was super busy with wrecks all night. DOT brined the roads Thursday morning but most of that washed away. The base closed at noon as did schools and other businesses. I grew up in Baltimore so I know how to drive in inclement weather. Anyway, my point is, stay off the roads around here unless you want to become a statistic. SpyRyd, that's already done. I did the same thing as a senior NCO. It goes a long way. Roger, that's the way it is here. I was watching the news this morning and a woman was being interviewed after being in an accident. She said "I was just driving like I normally do, and the car just went away from me". She hit ice on an overpass. I95 looked like a demo derby. Going to go pull the battery and install a new one. Have a great day folks, stay safe.

I feel so bad for you and all of that boring weather; maybe you should spread it around so that you don't have to burden just yourself with it!

I agree Bob. Weatherman said it's going to be 65 here Wednesday but back to 45 on Thursday :cus:. Went to get the battery earlier. Had to watch for falling ice :yikes:. Had to laugh a little though, car in front of me about went off the road when some ice fell from an overhead line and hit the roof of their car. They stopped a little further down the road and the guy got out and was looking all over the car. I stopped and asked if he was ok, he said somebody hit his car with a brick or something. I told him it was ice from the overheads. Don't think he believed me.
