Need info on tires please

I went to my local tire place and asked for a tire the same size of the one i have and they almost laughed at me, they said that is a very rare tire, what other choices do i have? i tried the serch but nothing came up, what are you guys using?

The OEM size is 225/50-15.
It's about as common as dirt...
Try looking for a Kumho Ecsta in that size.
Another useful size is:
215/60-16
General's Altimax is very popular for our Spyders in this size.

+1 on the Kumho Ecsta AST. I've been very satisfied with mine. I have over 14K on it. I'll probably have to replace it this summer, though.

I have 10,660 miles, ( changed the original Kenda tire at 5,824 miles). I have 4,836 miles the General Altimax RT 43.

This is the 2nd riding season with the above tire. It handles excellent on dry, wet, gravel, dirt, roads. Deanna

Sure, a 16" tire can physically be 'fitted' to (or probably more correctly, 'put on over'.... :roflblack: ) a 15" rim, but you can't inflate said 16" tire or use it for anything other than being a bit of black stuff to hold the rim off the ground while it's all standing still!! :yikes: :shocked:

I think Bob's 16" rim was a typo.

Mexican, I'm running a Yokohama s.Drive tire, 205/55R15. The tire guy who installed it said it fit the Spyder rim better than the OEM tire. :thumbup: It's the same diameter and circumference, but just slightly wider. There are LOTS of choices. As Chupaca said, just search this forum for tire threads.

Just called the dealer to ask how much they would charge to replace the tire with OEM . it is around $350, they told me they have to use 3 bottles of balancing liquid since they can't use weights, whats up with that? Am i gonna have liquid inside the tire the whole time? is that going to corrode the wheel eventually???:shocked:
Do i have to use that liquid with the car tire also??
