Thanks everyone Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and have a fun and safe New Years...

While in Lauderdale, if you two like nature stuff, you might take the everglades airboat ride.

Other stuff, go offshore fishing or bass fishing on Lake O.

While driving around, head north on A1A into Palm Beach and enjoy the ocean views as you pass the mansions of all sorts of wealthy folks.

Hit a casino if interested.

Grab the tourist info cards at the hotel and see what you like, maybe Coral Castle if you want to drive south a bit.

Avoid South Beach unless you have pockets of spending money...but it is cool and a lot of different culture there.

For some reason, a lot of folks hit Sawgrass Mall, your call.

On your way North, if you take I95, there is the Spacecenter.

Try some Cuban food.

There is a lot to do, or just relax and enjoy some time away from home.

Besides motorcycles, what are your interests?

A must do in Miami is El Rey De Las Fritas. Fritas are Cuban burgers and this place is the original and the absolute best. Google it, GPS it and go. If you can eat just one you're a better man than me!

WoW !!! this is good stuff.... keep the ideas coming, BUT... remember I am an offical ole fart but
Julie is not she is 59 but has a bad back so no crazy stuff... however the sky diving thing does look fun.
I am 72 going on 35. We like the kind of things like the Coral Castle where you can explore, not much into
going to a mall, love to eat but I am on a diet, Julie likes to walk alot I don't but I will if the payoff at the end
is worth it, last time there we did go on an air boat, and Julie tried to touch an Alligator for some damn reason
last time we were at Disney Epcot was being built... I know there are alot of new things there to see any ideas?
We were in Key West last year and took a boat ride while in the Keys..
Thanks everyone keep sending stuff to do.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Based on what you just posted...take a nice drive North along the ocean and highway, find some cool stops of interest but wind up in St Augustine. Have fun there then head back to Orlando.

St Augustine has the fort, Pirate Museum and other cool things that seem to fit.

Dave, I live in Ft. Lauderdale. Let me know when you're here and maybe we can meet. Are you riding down?
The best advice I can give you is to look on trip advisor.
Pick some things to do then message me or call me. That will give me an idea of what you're looking to do.

Coming to Florida

I've lived in FL since before I-4 was built, so here are my suggestions.
Unless you have relatives, or love a concrete jungle, why visit Ft Lauderdale?
I would head down on the West Coast to Sanibel and Captiva Island (yes this is pricy during the winter months, but come on you were going to go to Ft Lauderdale), great beaches just to watch the sunset, or just walk the beaches and enjoy the quiet. If you go try some of the restaurants, Mucky Duck, and the Bubble room were places that were always good, but times do change, and so do restaurants. Then work your way back North to Venice beach (neat place it has black sand and you can find fossilized sharks teeth in the surf), then Sand Key or Clearwater. A little north is New Port Richie and the Lucky Dill Deli, a great place to eat. then a day at Busch Gardens. Ok you have not been to Epcot, (I like Universal studios also), spend a day there. Then head up to Flagler beach great rides in this area as you continue to St Augustine (Columbia Cuban Restaurant, Salt Life food Shack), and the Ole City.

In the Orlando area to see the Disney attractions, there's also Universal Studios and Sea World. Next time I go to Florida I'm going to seek out the "old Florida" sights, or whatever's left of it.

The Only Reason we are going to Fort Lauderdale is......

My wife is going to fly to Fort Lauderdale for business on the 6th. of January I will join her on the 11th.
that is the only reason I will be in Fort Lauderdale, then off we will go for so fun time away from work
and just be me and her and NO Grand Kids or adult kids... it seams we spend tons of time with our 8 grand kids
taking them here and there we never get time to go just be together,
We have been to Napels, Tampa, Fort Meyers, and explored most of the Keys and the Glades areas, the Space center
and a little of Miami, We just love Florida and want to enjoy things the locals enjoy. We have not been to Disney since
we got married so we want to do some of that stuff and then on with the rest, that we have time for.

you have a lot of info above now connect the dotted lines and enjoy your vacation....:clap::yes::yes:

Gator Boys & Air Boat Rides

If you'd like to take an air boat ride and see some of the Gator Boy crew? Take Griffin Road (on the south side of Ft. Lauderdale International Airport) all the way west until it ends west of US 27. You run directly into Holiday Park, the home of the Gator Boys alligator wrestling and air boat rides.:thumbup:

:agree: with doctorlbug.... Sand key and Clearwater is very nice......and Flagler beach ...

In addition to Universal, you might want to take in Cape Canaveral and the "space coast" exhibits. Additionally, you have the racing exhibits at the International Speedway in Daytona. The ride up the east coast starting at Daytona and heading north up to St. Augustine (as was suggested earlier) is also nice if you have either a "bike" or a convertible. A fun little town close to Orlando (and a town that I was born and raised in) is Mt. Dora. Mt. Dora is about a 35 minute drive North North West of Orlando and has a lot of curio shops. It has several Bed and Breakfast places as well. It's a southern town with a new england flavor. There are several rivers which you can rent a boat and ride. There is the St. John's which is one of the few rivers that flows north in the U.S. It starts in Melbourne, Flarda, and eventually winds up in Jacksonville, Florida. Plant City which is about 60 miles west of Orlando is just about to start up its strawberry season. They may have their festival about the time you're here, but I think it's later. You also may want check out any entertainment that might be coming to Orlando or surrounding towns. There is always some form of entertainment going on. There is "Old Town" which is located near Kissimmee, Flarda, (not pronounced Kiss ah me or you will get shot by the locals) which has carnival like rides, etc.

I'll try to think of some more and let you know.

Cool!!!!!!! Your very good to your friends:yes::clap:

unfortunately I couldn't join them due to back surgery, but they had a great time. Picked them up off a cruise ship in Port Canaveral since they had a full day there. Allow 2-3 hours for two people. They do orientation training before you get in the wind tunnel.
