There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Need Improved Milage On old RT w 998 Engine?

The easiest way to improve fuel mileage on any Spyder is to fit a smaller windshield. But no one wants to do that.... :ohyea:

Those things are usually good for increasing the POWER and use a correspondingly greater amount of fuel.

Most modern engines run pretty lean to start with.......and trying to make them even leaner can result in some NASTY effects on engine parts.
Like burned valves and melted pistons.
Definitely don't want a meltdown. At least with the AFR+ you could get an idea where you stand with how rich or lean the trike is running.

I have seen where some diagnostics machines have a tailpipe sniffer to test the air to fuel ratio.

Doesn't mean that is a good idea.
10-15 UNDER the prevailing traffic flow in any vehicle is NOT a safe thing to do.
On a "motorcycle" it just not smart.
Sorry but it just isn't.
So run over me: My Great-Grandkids will have a BALL spending your Great-Grandkid's inheritance! nojoke
Riding along with prevailing traffic, is akin to running along in a mob, and wondering why you got arrested during the riot! :banghead:

Thanks for all the replies I probably shouldn't have equated it to mileage, I'm a handicapped rider and would benefit from longer distance and less stops. :spyder:

I can only tell you this:
While riding to Missouri in a mixed group of 998s, 1330s, and bikes towing trailers: we were stopping every 120 miles or so...
As soon as I broke out of the pack on the way home with my 1330: 180 miles between stops became easy.

It depends on the justification for the "mob".

The way you stated it, it is not like that at all.

How about if the "mob" is running away from some imminent danger. Would you think that purposely being slower than everybody else in that situation is a smart thing to do ?? The "bear" will eat the last guy in line.

When I got my 12, a really good tank gave me 29 mpg, and it pretty much stayed that way until this spring. When it was in for service, the tech reflashed the ecu, and along with some other things it wouldn't do before, it's averaging around 31 mpg now!

Good Luck

My car gets better mileage than my Spyder, if I am going on a trip and
am not sure of gas availability I have a SAFE SEALED 1 gal. gas can I take
in my saddle bag.

Has anyone found a way to increase gas mileage?? Tuner, extra tank, any suggestions, love my spyder but miss mileage of my old bike.

Over 40 MPG???

I have an acquaintance who says ( boasts ) that he get over 40 mpg on his ( actually his wife's ) 2013 RTL. I know it's impossible. All downhill with a tail wind maybe:p

Kaos

I did get 34 mpg one tank only. And believe it or not, it was traveling at less than fifty mph and mostly downhill.
